Daily Kos sets sights on Congress
By Walter Alarkon
Daily Kos, the pre-eminent liberal blog, is planning to launch its own site focused on Congress this September.
"We’re looking to democratize congressional oversight," said Markos Moulitsas, Daily Kos’s founder.

Markos also states:
"We've seen with Daily Kos and other blogs like it that we can accomplish a great deal when we empower regular Americans to take charge of their own politics, and we have high hopes that we can accomplish the same by giving our readers insight into what happens in the congressional sausage factory," said Moulitsas, who also writes a weekly column for The Hill.

Moulitsas said he hopes to compete with subscription-based news services that track legislation, such as Congressional Quarterly, but would provide his content for free.
"We want regular people to be able to keep tabs on what's happening in their Congress," he said.
I've been a fan of this site for a couple of years. But I've only started composing diaries on DKOS for less than a year because of my involvment on other political websites and blogs and helping candidates get elected. Sometimes I'm a fan, sometimes I'm dismayed, sometimes I'm overjoyed at the intelligence and passion that accompany some of the diaries, posts and comments. But I'm always enthused and inspired by the turnout and concern of KOSsacks about how we live our lives, the desire to be ethical and our intention to conduct our government with integrity, enthusiasm and intelligence. I don't always agree with Markos, and I'm certain that if he's aware of my presence on this site, he doesn't always agree with me either. That stated, Im so glad to have a forum where we can all discuss what is happening in our country, and the world for that matter, and how we all educate each other. I've seen some of the more popular republican blogs and political websites and one obvious and glaring point always sticks out to me....they are lockstep in their opinions and party always seems to take precedent over country and their fellow Americans.
So I thank Markos for this site and for this new upcoming site about Congress. I hope the same intelligent and passionate discourse will take place and that it will make us all the wiser for it!
