Democratic congressional candidate Colleen Callahan is having a fish fry this Friday, July 25th in Kickapoo, IL (just northwest of Peoria). It's the same day that President Bush will be visiting Peoria, IL to campaign for Aaron "Give Taiwan Some Nukes" Schock.
The big difference - Bush and Schock's event at a local Angus cattle farmis being held in the middle of a work day - around 1:30 pm or so I hear. And it costs $500 a ticket, and $5,000 to have your photo taken with W. Whereas Callahan's fish fry is 4-8 pm and only $15 bucks, if anything. Details below the fold.
Oh, and her ActBlue page, natch!
Here's the copy of the email announcement I got Friday. All the local Democratic heavyweights will be there, folks! Including some up from Springfield/down from Chicago:

As most of you know, President Bush will be in Peoria on this day for a private fundraiser for our opponent, Republican Aaron Schock. According to press reports, that event is expected to bring in as much as $700,000 for this young man's campaign. We're offering an alternative. Please join us for an evening of family fun that's open to all central Illinoisans -- an event for all of those who cannot afford to take an afternoon off from work to pay $500 to spend time with a president whose failed policies have led to the current sky-high fuel and food prices, the crumbling economy and a war that continues to drag on far too long. Colleen and other elected officials will take the time to listen to your concerns and talk about the real issues affecting all of us in the 18th Congressional district.
Individual and Federal PAC contributions are accepted.
Corporate contributions are prohibited.
