As I follow this election, I can't help but notice the monumental differences between McCain and Obama. ALL of McCain's speeches are attacks on Obama, every newsclip, every sound bite, you hardly ever hear a sentence from him that doesn't mention Obama. He seems incapable of delivering a substantive speech about what he would do, without also trying to characterize what Obama would do. Why can't he leave that to Obama? Why can't McCain allow Obama to speak for himself? And while I notice this about McCain, my mind can't help but juxtapose this little tendency John has, to Obama's interminable refusal to acknowlegde McCain's very existence unless specifically asked about him. This disparity has really become pathetic. In other words, McCain is steadily proving himself unworthy of Barack Obama's campaign efforts and dignity.
Its reminds me of what my elders have informed me may have sunk Ted Kennedy's campaign in 1980, when Roger Mudd asked Ted exactly why he wanted to be president. Now, in my opinion Ted's answer really wasn't that awful, but i hear he took a lot of heat for it, I wasn't alive at the time so I don't know for sure how big of a deal it really amounted to, but that's another debate entirely. Back to the present day in which my brief studies in history have taught me to feel the need to apply Ted's unfortunate mishap to this election. To get to the point, someone ought to ask McCain this very same question. Why on earth does this 71 year old man want to be president?
Why? Why? Why? Why? WHY???? To be blunt it makes no sense. None at all. To begin with the most obvious reason why he shouldn't want to be President, he is 71 years old and will be 72 by the time of the Republican Convention. What kind of 72 year old man wants to have arguably THE toughest job in the world. I mean just imagine what he would look like after 4 years as President. just imagine that. If you compare pictures of Bill Clinton from '92 to ones from '00, you'll see what i mean, that kind difference does not come solely from natural aging. McCain would be the oldest President EVER if he were to serve two terms. But I don't even want to think about that. (I shudder at the threat of that)
Now look at another reason as to why he shouldn't want to win. I mean he clearly doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. What his his belief that Iraq borders Afghanistan, and that he thinks Czechoslovakia still exists, and that he doesn't know that the Sunni Awakening began six months before the Surge, (that Mitt Romney comically claims McCain authored) I mean come one. please Republicans, give us a REAL candidate for president. This man is wholly unfit to serve, let alone be our President.
The last straw for me happened today. I don't know about you but it REALLY pissed me off. He apparently questioned Barack's dedication to the country, implying that Obama would sell out America for a couple of votes. It's utterly absurd. Of course this isn't news, this post isn't telling you anything that you didn't already know. Honestly, by now does anyone expect anything better from McCain and the Republicans? But I'm came here with a question, and I'm interested to see if anyone has an answer, possibly that he's emotionally instable and needs our affection, and that he needs it so badly, he is willing to accuse Obama of being a traitor. I mean that is a low-blow. even by Repub's standards (wait, do they have standards...who knows?) So I'm convinced that there is some reason, there just has to be some reason that he wants this sooo badly that he will sink to such levels. Any theories anybody?
