After five relaxing days on the beach with our artist friends, we drove back to Central Louisiana yesterday. Gas prices ranged from $3.93 to $4.09 for the lowest grade. Most drivers exceeded the speed limit by 5-8 miles per hour. Eastbound traffic on I-12, especially between Exit 10 and the merge with I-12 was terribly backed up. And . . . I read an odd bumper sticker in SW Mississippi. It read
Give War a Chance
I'll bet he supports the candidacy of John S. McCain.
Give War A Chance
Tell that to the families of the more than 4000 Americans killed in Iraq and more than 500 in Afghanistan.
Give War A Chance
Tell that to the families of the more than 30,000 US wounded. Tell that to the tens of thousands of Iraqi families who have lost family members.
Give War A Chance
Tell that to the kids who can't go to Head Start or other school-readiness programs because we've spend billions on a war in Iraq. Tell that to the drivers who take a risk driving on roads and bridges that are in terrible shape. Tell that to the kids whose teachers are poorly trained.
On this Fourth of July we need to reaffirm our commitment to peace and prosperity and reject McCain and his pro-war stance. We have more needs. Many more pressing needs.
Pray for peace.
In the comments, please list other needs. I'll forward them to . . .
