Recently a group that I belong to, made up of Americans, British, Dutch and Canadians got into a discussion of left and right leaning socialism.
While it was evident from the beginning which were Americans from their shouting matches over the benefits of electing Obama or McCain, there was several intelligent individuals who condemned America's left-socialism and claimed it was the cause of all our problems today.
I disagreed, if it weren't for our "left-socialism" many a rural area would still be without electricity, as it wasn't feasible to build miles of power lines to sparse areas of the country. Enter the cooperative power companies.
Without those rural electrified homes there would have been no radio or television touting the benefits of urban living that lured millions from the rural areas to the cities to provided cheap labor for the Fat Cat (right-socialists) and thus we might still be stuck in the Great Depression.
Although given the results out today on the inflation rate, and given the costs increases in food, fuel and building materials we might have entered another Great Depression, can't call it a recession any longer.
BTW that inflation jump of 5+% was the greatest since 1991 when Bush's Daddy lead the country into a mess that Bill Clinton had to cleanup.
Given the animosity between the Clintons and Obama, we feel that they are from the same cloth, we can't help but favor Obama over lackluster McCain to straighten out the "Right's" errors once again.
