Hey, Kossacks. I was browsing through the interwebs (in a way quite alien to John McCain) when I noticed a website that had been put up by the Obama campaign. It's called "Fight The Smears", or www.fightthesmears.com
Apparently, Obama's campaign decided to do this after a mainstream reporter asked Obama about the tape that doesn't exist that Rush Limbaugh keeps talking about- the one with Michelle saying "whitey."
Obama's response to that one actually impressed me quite a bit. Sometimes reporters need a bit of a smack down!
"If somebody has evidence that myself or Michelle or anybody has said something inappropriate, let them do it. This is the same kind of nonsense that we started with the madrassas...and frankly my hope is that people don’t play this game. It is a destructive aspect of our politics right now. And simply because something appears in an email that should lend it no more credence then if you heard it on the corner. And you know presumably the job of the press is to not go around and spread scurrilous rumors like this until there's actually anything, one iota of substance or evidence that would substantiate it."
Anyhow, www.fightthesmears.com has an answer to every major smear that has been thrown Obama's way, from way back when in "won't say the pledge" and "won't put his hand over his heart" to "doesn't visit wounded troops."
It's updated as soon as the smears go up, as far as I can tell.
Anyhow, if you ever are pressed for time, or just can't talk to a person one on one about it, I would highly suggest tossing this website around. It's quick, easy, and as far as I can tell covers every major concern that the whisper/smear campaigns throw Obama's way.
Now, since you slogged through all that stuff that you've doubtlessly heard before, here's a hilarious video revealing the ridiculousness inherent in smear campaigns. (Don't worry. There's an anti-Obama/Hillary ad after the McCain one.)
