...because, if you thought clearly and thoroughly about the state of "things", in the U.S.....compared to say...France, and you listened to Obama and assessed what the "change" to congressional leadership in the 2006 election has actually brought, you would probably be wanting to riot, instead of rallying for Obama.
The PTB are scared....they know there is a small chance you could actually compare what the French, a populace who endured Nazi rule, not all that long ago, have voted for themselves, that you don't have, and about "coincidences"??? and a wealth inequity "problem" that Obama is not even talking about, either.
France wins, hands down, in a comparison of poverty rate, GINI, Balance of Trade, Strength of it's Currency, Distribtution of Health Care, Pensions, Retirement Age, Minimum Vacation Time, social "stigma related to "social safety net", and it's mninority population is not only largely "documented", it is mostly made up of French citizens:

France mandates a $13.00 per hour minimu wage: http://en.wikipedia.org/...
Compare these same categories to those of the US:
https://www.cia.gov/...
DId I mention that France, with less than a third of the US population, and a much more prohibitive currency exchange rate, is the world's no. 1, tourist destination?
How long would Obama, or his PTB sponsors (democratic and republican parties equal one PTB sponsored, party with two right wings, intended to distract you, as this DKOS website is certainly an example of the results!)...last, as a politcal force, if we started asking, why France, why not us? If we started looking at the candidates and asked why so many have Nazi ancestors, and friends who are Nazi ancestors:

Former Gov. Gray Davis still doesn't get much respect, apparently. The first California governor to be recalled is no hot commodity on eBay. Only three Davis items were listed for sale Thursday. Two "Buy
It Now" autographed photos had been available for days, at $20 and $5.98, with no takers. A set of 1999 Gray Davis Gubernatorial Inauguration cuff links had an asking price of at least $4.99. No bids had been submitted....
Posted in Part III of this series is proof of the following, and note that SacBee has time to "cover" Gray Davis's waning popularity, and demand on Ebay for his "junk", but had never published any comment about the COINCIDENCE that both major party Gubernatorial candidates in 2003. had grandfathers who were Nazis...or, any comment about the coincidence that both the nation's most populated state, and the US presidency, in three of the last five elections, had a major, (and winning) candidates who had....Nazi supporting patriarchs....
This is a description of the grandfather of Gray Davis, William Rhodes Davis:

Excerpts from "Trading With the Enemy: An Exposé of The Nazi-American Money-Plot 1933-1949" by Charles
Higham;
...The Mexican Connection

Even the supposed enemies of The Fraternity were connected to it by almost invisible threads. One of Jersey Standard's most powerful rivals in the field of petroleum supplies to Germany, William Rhodes Davis's Davis Oil Company, was connected to Goring and Himmler. Davis was linked to Hermann Schmitz and I.G. Farben through the Americans Werner and Karl von Clemm, New York diamond merchants (who were first cousins to Nazi Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop by marriage), and through the National City Bank.
The von Clemms were fanatical devotees of Germany, even though both had become American residents in 1932. They used a device typical in Nazi circles: a device copied, ironically, from the Rothschilds.
One brother stayed in Berlin, the other remained in New York. They were connected to the Schroder banks through interlocking directorships, and on the board of a company that helped finance General Motors in Germany along with I.G. Farben.
In 1931 they financed the Gestapo with funds supplementing those supplied by Schroder's Stein Bank. Yet another Fraternity link was their involvement with the First National Bank of Boston, an associate of the Bank for International Settlements. They conceived the idea of unblocking First National's blocked German marks to build a vast oil refinery for Goring's air force and for Farben and Eurotank near Hamburg, with Karl von Clemm in charge. This oil refinery would bypass the terms of the
Versailles Convention and supply Goring's so-called Black Luftwaffe, which was secretly being prepared for world conquest.
In order to secure the oil for the refinery, the von Clemm brothers had to find an American who would aid and abet them. The choice was easy. From 1926 to 1932, Werner von Clemm had financially sustained
a largely unsuccessful oil prospector and confidence trickster named William Rhodes Davis.
Davis was on the face of it unprepossessing. He was short, not much over five feet, with a solid-gold left front molar and a badly bowed left leg that contained a silver plate put there after he was injured in a train wreck in 1918. His head was too large for his body, and his face sported a broken nose. Yet despite his lack of good looks he had the one indispensable quality needed for success. He had the gift of gab. He was capable of talking anyone into the ground. He spoke in superlatives. He
ever took no for an answer, and he would shaft anyone when the chips were down.
Davis was born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1889. Poorly educated, he left school at sixteen and jumped a freight car. A kindly porter gave him a job as candy butcher, selling chocolate and ice cream from a tray. Railroad crazy, he graduated to brakeman, fireman, and engineer in the Southwestern states until the collision put him out of commission. Emerging from the hospital with a gimpy leg, he used his
plight to his own advantage by working as a comedian on the Keith vaudeville circuit, making audiences laugh as he wiggled his distorted member in a dance. When his popularity ran out, he shipped off on
tramp steamers as stoker, fireman, and engineer.
Back in the United States, he dabbled in the oil business but consistently went broke. He was under frequent investigation for a variety of swindles. People were fascinated, even hypnotized, by him; but
disillusionment would always set in, followed by the inevitable lawsuit. He sold dry wells, manipulated stocks, and set up and collapsed small companies, carrying the shareholders with him.
In 1926 he was penniless. The von Clemm twins stepped into the picture in 1933. Their support of him saved him from ruin and imprisonment. As a result of this he became deeply committed to Nazism. He was fascinated by the opulence of a Germany heavily financed by American bank loans, the handsome, healthy men in black uniforms, the pretty blond women. It all seemed a far cry from the bread lines and pinched faces of America in the Depression.
After the deal with the German government over Eurotank, Davis saw the way to make his fortune at last. He owned a few wells through the von Clemms' good graces. With German money he could certainly start pumping.....

....After the March-April hearings ended, more dirt came gushing out of the Justice Department and the Congress on Farish and Standard Oil. Farish had deceived the U.S. Navy to prevent the Navy from acquiring certain patents, while supplying them to the Nazi war machine; meanwhile, he was supplying gasoline and tetraethyl lead to Germany's submarines and air force. Communications between Standard and I.G. Farben from the outbreak of World War II were released to the Senate, showing that Farish's organization had arranged to deceive the U.S. government into passing over Nazi-owned assets: They would nominally buy I.G.'s share in certain patents because `` in the event of war between ourselves and Germany ... it would certainly be very undesirable to have this 20 percent Standard-I.G. pass to an alien property custodian of the U.S. who might sell it to an unfriendly interest. ''@s1@s8
John D. Rockefeller, Jr. (father of David, Nelson and John D. Rockefeller III), controlling owner of Standard Oil, told the Roosevelt administration that he knew nothing of the day-to-day affairs of his company, that all these matters were handled by Farish and other executives.@s1@s9
In August, Farish was brought back for more testimony. He was now frequently accused of lying. Farish was crushed under the intense, public grilling; he became morose, ashen. While Prescott Bush escaped publicity when the government seized his Nazi banking organization in October, Farish had been nailed. He collapsed and died of a heart attack on Nov. 29, 1942.
The Farish family was devastated by the exposure. Son William Stamps Farish, Jr., a lieutenant in the Army Air Force, was humiliated by the public knowledge that his father was fueling the enemy's aircraft; he died in a training accident in Texas six months later.@s2@s0
With this double death, the fortune comprising much of Standard Oil's profits from Texas and Nazi Germany was now to be settled upon the little four-year-old grandson, William (`` Will '') Stamps Farish III. Will Farish grew up a recluse, the most secretive multi-millionaire in Texas, with investments of `` that money '' in a multitude of foreign countries, and a host of exotic contacts overlapping the intelligence and financial worlds--particularly in Britain.
The Bush-Farish axis started George Bush's career. After his 1948 graduation from Yale (and Skull and Bones), George Bush flew down to Texas on a corporate airplane and was employed by his father's Dresser Industries. In a couple of years he got help from his uncle, George Walker, Jr., and Farish's British banker friends, to set him up in the oil property speculation business. Soon thereafter, George Bush founded the Zapata Oil Company, which put oil drilling rigs into certain locations of great strategic interest to the Anglo-American intelligence community.
Will Farish at 25 years old was a personal aide to Zapata chairman George Bush in Bush's unsuccessful 1964 campaign for Senate. Will Farish used `` that Auschwitz money '' to back George Bush financially, investing in Zapata. When Bush was elected to Congress in 1966, Farish joined the Zapata board.@s2@s1
When George Bush became U.S. Vice President in 1980, the Farish and Bush family fortunes were again completely, secretly commingled. As we shall see, the old projects were now being revived on a breathtaking scale.....

... It's also been said that for George Bush there might be a bit of envy for Farish's comfortable, very private existence. But Farish scoffs at the idea. "I think that's not even close," Farish says. "He's always had his eye on one thing, he's been terribly determined." The same, of course, could be said about Farish. Ask a Kentucky horseman, and he'll probably tell you it's a whole lot easier to become president of the United States than it is to set up your own racing and breeding operation in central Kentucky. Perhaps because Farish never lived in Kentucky before the 1970s, he didn't know that what he was planning just couldn't be done. After all, one just cannot aspire to be a leading horseman; one has to be bred to be a horseman.
Farish did have some bloodlines. An only child, William Stamps Farish III was 4 years old when his father, Army Lt. William Stamps Farish Jr., died at age 31 in a training flight near Waxahachie, Tex. Farish just barely remembers his father or his grandfather, William Stamps Farish, who died of a sudden heart attack six months earlier.
Farish's grandfather graduated from law school in Mississippi in 1900. After just three months of legal practice, he moved to Beaumont, Tex., and within a year had started his own oil business. It was no get-rich-quick deal. The business faltered, but Farish's grandfather persisted, picking up drilling jobs for various Texas oil partnerships. In 1917 he became a founder of the Humble Oil and Refining Co., part of what is now Exxon, and five years later became its president. In 1933, he became president of Standard Oil of New Jersey. Farish's other grandfather was Robert E. Wood, who was the chief executive officer of the Sears & Roebuck Co......
....Farish was elected president of his senior class, but he says he spent so much time on the polo field that he didn't get around to graduating.
Less than a year after he left Charlottesville, Farish was playing in a polo match in Pennsylvania when he happened to meet Sarah Sharp. Sarah's father, Bayard Sharp, a du Pont heir, raised thoroughbreds at the family's farm just across the Delaware border. It was love at first sight, Sarah says of their blind date, and they were married less than a year later. Sarah was 19, Will was 23. The couple moved to Houston and within seven years they had four children, three daughters and a son......
... Laura Farish, one of his four children, works in the White House as one of Bush's scheduling aides. She says the president is like anyone's close family friend except that he just happens to be the president. And he just happens to be Laura Farish's godfather.
Says Laura, "He and Dad have known each other so long ... that when Dad hears a good joke, he can call up the president and tell it to him, and I know the president appreciates hearing it," she says.
Many presidential friends have seemed to be in the mold of Bebe Rebozo, the close friend of Richard Nixon. Rebozo would spend hours with Nixon talking about nothing but professional football. It was pure recreation for Nixon, without any mention of politics, government or foreign policy.
Bush spends that kind of time with Farish too. The men watch movies, hunt game and play tennis. But they get serious as well, Bush says. "We talk about issues. He's very up on things, but it's a comfortable thing, not probing beyond what I want to say." Farish says he'll always be one of Bush's biggest boosters, and he's ready at a moment's notice to make the re'sume' argument in favor of Bush's being the best-prepared man ever to become president. It's also clear that Bush regularly asks Farish's advice on the budget, domestic policy and politics.
"I guess I don't have to say this, but he would never ask me for anything," Bush says. "Never seek a favor. He has a sense of ethics that is just so finely honed."
"George thinks so highly of him," Barbara Bush says. "There's just a very comfortable feeling about Will Farish. He's cozy. He comes in with his bathrobe, he and Sarah, and we have coffee in the morning. They're cozy people, quiet. They're restful for the president."....
.....Lane's End Farm is what horse people call a "full-service operation," with a complex for the stallions, a separate set of barns for broodmares, still another for weanlings and yearlings, yet another for mares waiting to be mated with the stallions. The farm's office, where about a dozen of the farm's 100 employees work, occupies the third floor of a Versailles bank building that has a view of the nearby farm....
.... In 10 years, Farish has bred more than 80 stakes winners. "That' more than some big names in this industry breed in their lifetimes," says Farish's business manager, R. Bates Newton. Somehow, standing in the breeding shed, it's difficult to imagine another of Farish's friends there. But the queen of England was, Farish says, when she came to the United States last spring to inspect prospective stallions for her mares, and she mixed right in with the horse crowd. "She's a fantastic horsewoman. She knows the sport, and she knows horses completely. We had meetings with leading trainers and veterinarians, and she talks their language."
Farish says that his friendship with Queen Elizabeth II is all about horses. From the moment her Royal Air Force jetliner touched down at Lexington's Blue Grass Airport until she left three days later, the talk was horses, horses, horses. It was the queen's third visit to Farish's farm, and she's expected back this year. Each time, he says, there's a rough agenda of meetings with leading horsemen, breeders, veterinarians.
"She's an expert, and she can ask very penetrating questions," he says, not stopping for a moment to notice how improbable it sounds for the queen of England to fly eight hours for the chance to cross-examine a few Kentucky horse doctors.
Her Majesty owns about two dozen mares, and each trip to Kentucky gives her a chance to set up those mares with the leading stallions. There's never any stud fee charged the queen, and the Lexington Herald-Leader estimated last year that the royal purse saved about $800,000 from not paying the fees.....

....Perhaps the most interesting name on the list is William S Farish III. An old friend of the Bush family, he is a major donor to the Republican party and was the US ambassador to Britain from 2001 to
- One of his tasks here was justifying the war with Iraq. He inherited much of his money from his grandfather, the Texan oil millionaire William S Farish II.
In 1942 William S Farish II pleaded "no contest" to charges of criminal conspiracy with the Nazis, and was denounced by Senator Harry Truman for behaviour that "approaches treason". Through the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, of which he was president, he was alleged to have run a cartel with the German company IG Farben. Farben manufactured Zyklon B, the poison used in the gas chambers, and ran a plant using slave labour at Auschwitz. Among other deals, William S Farish II had agreed to share
patents for making synthetic gasoline and artificial rubber with Farben, while withholding them from the US navy. He was fined and died soon afterwards. His son died a few weeks later in an air accident,
leaving the family fortune to William S Farish III.
So what is going on? What is so appealing about these memorials to the members of the royal family who agreed to unveil them, to the crowds who have packed the new exhibition, and to the rightwing multimillionaires who financed the giant tableau? W.....

......But Time's 75th anniversary issue is a telling instance of how lofty rhetoric can easily serve as a cover story. The hero of the retrospective, Henry Luce, gets plenty of adulation and some hazy
references to flaws. But it's sanitized history, omitting less pleasant facts.
They aren't hard to find. As tragic events unfolded in Europe, Luce ran his thriving magazine empire with an odious tilt. "In 1934 he devoted an entire issue of Fortune to glorifying Mussolini and Fascism," wrote independent journalist George Seldes. And in Time, Luce "permitted an outright pro- fascist, Laird Goldsborough, to slant and pervert the news every week."
One of many brilliant books by Seldes, "Witness to a Century," recounts a revealing incident in March 1942: "Thurman Arnold, the assistant attorney general, appearing before a Senate committee investigating war profiteering, testified that Ethyl Gasoline Corp., General Motors, Standard Oil and I.G. Farben of Germany had an agreement by which the American corporations supplied Hitler with the secret of making tetra-ethyl lead for gasoline, without which Hitler could not have operated his air force or gone to war, and also supplied him with the secrets of making synthetic rubber."
The head of the committee, Sen. Harry Truman, responded by declaring "This is treason." But the big press glossed over the matter. As Seldes noted: "Henry Luce's Time, for example, ridiculed Truman on
page 16 one week and published a $5,000 Standard Oil advertisement on page 89."
After formation of the Central Intelligence Agency in 1947, Luce — a close friend of U.S. spymaster Allen Dulles — privately urged his correspondents to cooperate with the agency. Meanwhile, Luce
debriefed with the CIA about his own travels overseas.
Along with some other powerful media executives, Luce joined Dulles on the board of directors of the National Committee for a Free Europe. That private front group funneled money to neo-Nazi emigre organizations.
Fifty-seven years ago, Luce proclaimed that the world was in the midst of "The American Century." His pronouncement is still echoing.
Last Tuesday night, when Time spent $3 million to throw a celebrity-filled anniversary party at Radio City Music Hall in New York, one of the featured guests was Bill Clinton. "Tonight, Time magazine has paid tribute to the time it not only observed but helped to shape," the president said, "the 100 stunning years that your founder Henry Luce so unforgettably called the American Century."
Time Warner bigwigs like the sound of such talk. And they see no reason for the United States to relinquish the next hundred years. "To the extent that America remains an avatar of freedom," Time's
managing editor contends, "the Global Century about to dawn will be, in Luce's terminology, another American Century."
No thanks. One was more than enough. ......

Legacies of Notable Lives
....Mr. Boker, born in Manhattan, graduated from Yale in 1933. In World War II he was a private, then a major, and became fluent in German. During the war he also worked with British intelligence,
recruiting double agents. Soon he attracted the attention of the United States Central Intelligence Agency.
After the war, when suddenly the Soviet Union went from the status of ally to cold war enemy, Mr. Boker was asked to cultivate Reinhard Gehlen, a Nazi spymaster who had been captured by the British.
His subtle, courteous handling of Gehlen gained the German's trust, and he began sharing information about the Soviet Union that he said had been gathered by the Nazis.
''I've read letters from Gehlen telling my Dad he was the only one he trusted,'' Ms. Boker said. In 1990 Mr. Boker was named to the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame.
Stamps were her father's ''other life,'' Ms. Boker said. He built his collection slowly and painstakingly, interested more in aesthetics than monetary value. Among his most prized specimens were a group of misprints: five-cent stamps that were accidentally printed as two-cent stamps. Other favorites included stamps that had been designed by a New Hampshire man who carved little pictures of people, animals and tools on wine corks, then transferred the artwork to government stamps.
''I believe my father collected every one of that group'' Ms. Boker said. ''As in everything else, he was thorough and caring.''
Mr. Boker died on April 12. He was 90. ....

Gerhard Wessel, 88, German Espionage Chief
By DOUGLAS MARTIN
Gerhard Wessel, a spy for Nazi Germany who went on to head West Germany's espionage agency, died on July 28 at his home in Pullach, a suburb of Munich. He was 88.
General Wessel's death was announced by Germany's Federal Intelligence Service, and reported by The Associated Press.
He is regarded as the founder of West Germany's counterintelligence service, which he headed for seven years. As the successor to Reinhard Gehlen as chief of the agency -- known as the BND, for Bundesnachrichtendienst -- he is credited with modernizing German intelligence gathering and curbing some abuses.
He hired academic analysts and electronics experts to serve alongside agents, and ordered spies to stop shadowing Germans inside Germany. His demand for greater openness was reflected in orders for agents to stop wearing the dark glasses favored under General Gehlen's leadership. He listed the BND in the phone book.
General Wessel's agency had many successes. It informed the government three months in advance of the Soviet Union's plans to invade Czechoslovakia in 1968. It also gathered early information about
dissatisfaction among shipyard workers in Gdansk, which eventually led to upheaval in Poland in the 1980's.
On the other hand, there were a disturbing number of incidents of East Germans infiltrating the West German government, particularly intelligence agencies, on General Wessel's watch.
Most significant, the BND knew that a top aide to Chancellor Willy Brandt of West Germany was an East German agent a year before the agent's existence was disclosed in 1974 and did not tell Mr. Brandt, who was forced from office as a result. During the espionage trial of Markus Wolfe, the former chief East German spy, in 1993, Mr. Wolfe's lawyer made the charge that the BND had not passed that information on.....

C.I.A. Knew Where Eichmann Was Hiding, Documents Show
By SCOTT SHANE
WASHINGTON, June 6 — The Central Intelligence Agency took no action after learning the pseudonym and whereabouts of the fugitive Holocaust administrator Adolf Eichmann in 1958, according to C.I.A.
documents released Tuesday that shed new light on the spy agency's use of former Nazis as informants after World War II.
The C.I.A. was told by West German intelligence that Eichmann was living in Argentina under the name Clemens — a slight variation on his actual alias, Ricardo Klement — but did not share the information with Israel, which had been hunting for him for years, according to Timothy Naftali, a historian who examined the documents. Two years later, Israeli agents abducted Eichmann in Argentina and flew him to Israel, where he was tried and executed in 1962.
The Eichmann papers are among 27,000 newly declassified pages released by the C.I.A. to the National Archives under Congressional pressure to make public files about former officials of Hitler's regime later used as American agents. The material reinforces the view that most former Nazis gave American intelligence little of value and in some cases proved to be damaging double agents for the Soviet K.G.B., according to historians and members of the government panel that has worked to open the long-secret files.
Elizabeth Holtzman, a former congresswoman from New York and member of the panel, the Nazi War Crimes and Japanese Imperial Government Records Interagency Working Group, said the documents showed that the
C.I.A "failed to lift a finger" to hunt Eichmann and "force us to confront not only the moral harm but the practical harm" of relying on intelligence from ex-Nazis.
The United States government, preoccupied with the cold war, had no policy at the time of pursuing Nazi war criminals. The records also show that American intelligence officials protected many former Nazis for their perceived value in combating the Soviet threat. ....
