Think back to 2007. Unpopular Republican president. Unpopular Republican war. Unpopular Republican gas prices. Increasingly unpopular Republican economy.
If you were a smart, intelligent Republican, would you pick 2008 as the year to make your move? Probably not.
As it happens, with back-to-back conventions over the next few weeks, America will get a first-hand view of whom both parties see as their current leaders. And you can argue, given the state of affairs, the Democratic slate offers a bit more in the brains department.
Not to say democrats are more intelligent than republicans – just that when you compare the one’s in the spotlight this year...
Will America notice intelligence when they watch this year’s conventions? Compare for yourself:
Compare President
Georgetown, Yale, Rhodes Scholar Bill Clinton vs. Content-to-be-a C-Student Bush.
Advantage: Democrats
Compare Candidates
Harvard Law Review President Barack Obama vs 894-out-of-899 John McCain.
Advantage: Democrats
Compare VPsHarvard Nobel Peace Prize Winner Al Gore vs. U of Wyoming grad Dick Cheney
Advantage: Even (cheney is wiley, and he has a gun)
Compare Primary Foes
Thoughtful Clinton, Biden, Richardson vs. Single-issue Huckabee, Giuliani, Romney.
Advantage: Democrats
