Markos, I love your site. You have saved me from insanity by bringing me to thousands of like-minded people at at time when I thought Americans had lost their minds. I respect your opinions and what you have to add to the political discourse.
But your front page post today revealing your disappointment at Obama's choice for VP is disappointing. And wrong. Joe Biden is the best thing that could have happened to this ticket.
Look at how the media is falling all over themselves talking about Biden's "American story." About how he takes the train home every day to Delaware. About how he lost his wife and daughter. About how is a fighter and not afraid to get in the mud. About his amazing foreign policy experience and knowledge.
Biden is likable. He's the real deal. He's imperfect, but who is not? But his imperfections are outweighed by his amazing credentials and what he will do for Democrats. Contrary to your opinion, Biden does reinforce Obama - by being a long-serving Clintonian Democrat becoming a part of this ticket he is showing that Obama's message of hope and change is real and viable. He also fills the gaps that the MSM and the polls like to focus on with the so-called "working class voters." He may give us Florida. He may give us Virginia. Pennsylvania is ours. I'll leave all of that to the electoral college wonks. But Biden is going to reassure people who have concerns about Obama. I don't like that he has to do that, because Obama is incredible, but there are stupid people who don't get it. And Biden will help them get it.
Biden is a great choice. I hope you can get behind him and be as excited as so many Kossacks are. Today should be about celebrating this wonderful ticket.
This a great day for Democrats.
Obama/Biden '08!!!
P.S. I'm sorry if this is somewhat a stream of consciousness post but I felt compelled to write and post.
*** Updated to reflect that Biden lost one child and not "children."
*** Updated to change a typo from Obama to Biden per Bill in Portland Maine - thanks Bill!
