1st Diary!! I can't believe that Hillary voters would even consider voting for McCain at the percentages some of the polls show. If you support the issues that Hillary stands for, how could you consider voting for McCain?
Could it be that when the people doing the polls are asking for information on the person being polled, that they simply ask if your a registered Democrat or Republican? Next, Who did you vote for? I remember seeing that several thousand Republicans in key Democratic State primaries registered as Democrats to vote for Hillary and cause chaos(at the urging of Conservation talking heads). They never intended to vote for a Democrat in the regular election, just cause problems for Obama in the primaries.
Those people could rightly say they are registared Democrats and voted for Hillary but will vote for McCain or not sure. The polling sample is small enough that a few of these getting into the sample could really mess with the percentages. It also would mean that the sample percentages are off in relation to % of Democtats, Republicans, and Independants in their poll. This would mean that more actual Republicans are being sampled, thus better results for McCain and poorer results for Obama. This chaos happened in alot of swing states after McCain had wraped up the Republican nomination. Could the races actually be more in Barack's favor then the polls say, particularly in Penn., Ohio, ect. Likewise, could the percentage of actual Hillary supporters who will vote for McCain be not as big?
