...all these sore losers that call themselves "PUMA". When will you people realize what you're actually doing. You say things like the party will be divided until Hillary either gets the nomination or until she gets put on the ticket. Well, neither of those things are going to happen, obviously. In reality, you PUMAs are the only thing that is dividing the Democratic Party. Rant after the jump.
Barack Obama won the primaries fair and square by planning ahead and out-campaigning Mrs. Clinton. Had she have planned her campaign past Super Tuesday and realized that Obama is an actual contender, who knows, she may have very well won the primaries and would be the nominee right now.
But she didn't.
No, she got cocky and presumptuous (where have we heard this before? haha) and felt that she was the inevitable front runner and would be annointed the nomination. The only fault here is hers and hers alone. She wasn't cheated or swindled.
Now, a lot of you say you will support John McCain for the presidency now because you are bitter and resentful of Barack Obama. This is seriously the most ridiculous thing I've heard since this election started last year. Do you people pay attention to policy at all? I mean honestly if you took a side-by-side-by-side look at Clinton, Obama and McCain's policies you would realize that Hillary and Barack's are practically identical, and McCain is the absolute opposite of both the Democrats' policies. If you Hillary supporters seriously think that McCain is your best bet after Clinton then you must all be taking crazy pills. You must not realize that McCain is literally a Bush-clone and will only further damage this country. He will keep Bush's failed economic policies, if you can even call them policies as they are hardly coherent. He will continue the war in Iraq indefinately, regardless of this deal the administration has going on now. He will appoint Scalia-Thomas clones on the Supreme Court which will indeed succeed in overturning Roe vs. Wade. Now, I'm sure you do not want that to happen.
One last point. All of the supporters who think that Hillary will be able to win in 2012 if Obama loses this year, think again. Do you realize that a lot, if not all of us Obama supporters will hold Clinton at least partly responsible for his loss if McCain does win this year. Do you really think that we will be up in arms with support for Clinton then? Fuck no. She has already shown very little enthusiasm and support to get him elected this year as she promised. One stop each in Florida, New Hampshire and Nevada and a couple fundraisers is not "doing everything in her power to get him elected."
Overall, I really think that the Clinton supporters and PUMAs who are being irrational or resentful and say they are going to vote McCain should really think it over and realize they need to vote their interests and not a personal vendetta of sorts. In actuality, I think the PUMA group is extremist in their cause and cannot be persuaded. I think the best thing for the Democratic Party to do would be to present the PUMAs as precisely what I've been talking about, irrational voters who can't be reasoned with, and completely diregard them. No use trying to persaude the unpersuadable. I think that a lot, if not the all of the Clinton supporters who are still just unsure of Obama, no bitterness toward him, just undecided, will come around by November. The reasonable majority of them will come to see McCain and his policies for exactly what they are, more of the same nonsense that we've seen for the last 7 1/2 years. I think the Obama-Biden campaign will do a bang-up job of showing them just that by November.
Alright, I apologize for the rant but I needed to get this off my chest. haha.
