I respect everyone's right to disagree in America, it is what our wonderful constitution (what's left of it) guarantees each of us. I respect everyone's right to a quick and speedy trial although I may vehemently disagree with the outcome sometimes. I believe every American is innocent until proven guilty.
I agree Hillary supporters have the right to 'voice' their outrage that Hillary may have been 'mistreated' during the Democratic Primaries. I was an avid Hillary supporter, with my time and money. I was an avid Bill supporter back in 'the day'.
I am now an avid Obama supporter - I donate to his campaign just as I did with Hillary.
Why? I believe in his leadership, his energy, his commitment to the American public, his dedication to fairness for all, his demonstrated ability to fight for the under dog, I believe in his American story.
I also believe in his platform, what he stands for and his position on health care, climate change, defending American, foreign policy, tax reform to make the rich pay their fair share and removing tax cuts from big oil and big business including those business who shipped American jobs overseas.
For those Hillary supporters who after several weeks since the end of the primaries, still want to cry, PMS, complain, scream, pull their hair out, through temper tantrums and slander Obama, I say "fine". I know, that's a bit harsh, but the ultimate goal of discord will split the Democratic Party.
Obama, graciously provided BOTH Hillary and Bill a prime time slot to speak at the Democratic Convention. I seriously doubt had Clinton won the nomination she would have allowed Obama the same courtesy. As a former Hillary and Bill supporter, I find their actions deplorable in not supporting the party they once lead. Sure Hillary 'says' all the right things and Bill well, Bill has basically been non existent in his support of Obama. I would say they are sore losers and the great historical epitaph they once had has been seriously tarnished.
If the angry Hillary supporters who say they are now going to vote for McCain and those who say they are not going to vote, that is your choice. But remember YOU are the ones to look out for your children, their future, your future, your jobs, your homes, your right to privacy, your income. It is rediculous to think a protest vote is in the good of America, it is selfish to be so tunneled visioned as not to support the whole for the good of all.
Be upset, be angry, but do the right thing in supporting Obama. And if you don't support Obama, do the right thing to vote against the failed McCain/Bush policies of the last 8 years.
Thousands of lives have been lost, based on Republican lies, millions of American rights have been decimated because of Bush/McCain and the Republican party. Millions of our children have suffered because of Bush/McCain and the Republican Party. Millions of Americans have died during the past 8 years because many of them could not afford health care. The rich got richer, middle America got smaller and angry Hillary supporters want to continue in this direction?
In the most unlikely event Obama does not take the White house, the responsibility falls directly on the shoulders of Bill and Hillary Clinton and Hillary's angry supporters who were not 'big' enough to look beyond their own short-sighted selfishness.
Do what is right for America, show your integrity by moving beyond being upset because Hillary was not the choice, this time.
Now is the time for Americans to stand up for freedom, for democracy, for doing what is right for America. In these challenging times, Americans must keep the faith; they must stand strong against those Republicans who would destroy the very foundation of these United States, our Constitution.
Americans must stand as one; stand against the injustice perpetrated by big oil companies, by greedy politicians who are in the pockets of lobbyists; by those who would seek to destroy those very liberties so many citizens fought and died for. We have heard "Freedom is not free"; and we must do the right thing and pull our heroic troops out of Iraq, rebuild our decaying infrastructure and ensure big oil and the wealthy pay their fair share and stop hiding their wealth in foreign banks.
I believe America, with the leadership of Obama and Biden, can be great again and can restore our role as friend and ally in the world, as we once held. WE MUST STAND TOGETHER; we must not be divided, we must continue to let our voices be heard and our VOTES counted. We must vote for Barack Obama!
