I took advantage of the joys of C-SPAN, and watched most of the Convention last night, free of Babblers. I did switch over during the elevator music, which, as Mr. Doc observed, eliminated need to buy my own elevator. (I know, I know, there were probably some outstanding performers that I missed...)
Watching a tall, beautiful, brilliant woman speak to America was thrilling. Hearing the Old Lion's roar was chilling. And, seeing the young understudies given their turn to parade before the faithful was intriguing. But, both last night, and this morning, every time I turned to MSNBC, or CNN for "Convention Coverage" I ended up yelling at the TV.
Every Pundit, every self-styled Analyst, every insider, every "journalist", columnist, reporter, anchor, host, Republican or Democrat keep chanting the same line.
"This is all well and good for a first night of introducing the Obamas to the regular working class voters, (that phrase is beginning to effect me like finger nails on a blackboard) but when do they start addressing specifics?"
They would all nod sagely, smile at each other for sticking to the script, and then ask,
"What kinds of chaos are the protestors/PUMAs/Clintons planning to disrupt this Convention just like they did in 1968?"
Hey! You incredibly stupid, fake! When are YOU going to start addressing the specifics?
You do realize that your JOB is to report on the specifics, right? You do know that you are supposed to report on the plans, policies and proposals of the candidates, don't you? It's your charge to tell America what the candidates plan to do!
If you are too lazy to go to the web sites and read the heavy stuff yourself, you do have interns, aides and handmaidens who have not yet been so corrupted by the system that they have lost all pretext of doing their home work. Get them to tell you the specifics. Then you can look like you know your job by telling America. It's called reporting. It's called smart. It's called "elitist" - you know - demonstrating a mastery of your craft?
Lining up to demand that the Obama Campaign do your work, while you petulantly try to weaken the candidate by piling on the McCain meme that he is All Hat and No Cattle, is just another example of our infantile, embarrassing media Heathers destroying Democracy while they smirk.
Two honest, charming young girls shamed you last night. They were "in the moment" and "attending to business". What the hell were you doing?
