Ladies and gentlemen, I was among the many of us who criticized Hillary during the primaries. (FYI, I also criticized Obama, Edwards, and just about everyone else....)
And the traditional media has done its best to pump up the silly drama about the 60-count 'em-60 "PUMAs" who are holding out for Hillary even though she hasn't asked them to do so.
But it's over. Hillary knocked it out of the damned park tonight.
She supported Barack Obama as strongly as anyone could have expected, and more. She was fiery, smart, funny, passionate, and pulled no punches in taking it to the Republicans in general, and John McCain specifically. (Oh John, that must have hurt...)
Of course there will be billions of blog posts tonight analyzing HRC's speech, and this is just one of them. After the bruising primaries, of course we'll all want to examine what she said.
Well, I'm here to say that she said all that she needed to say, and more. And this is from someone who has generally not been a fan of the Clintons cerca 2008.
However she got there, Hillary Clinton got there. She put aside her personal hurt and gave her full, unequivocal support to Barack Obama. She couldn't have done it better.
Now, dear sweet media -- can you stop trying to pump up the damned drama? It's over.
It's beyond over. It's awesome. HRC delivered UNITY tonight, and any further attempts to pump up the soap opera are just pure nonsense.
We now need to throw this speech in the face of any fool -- media or otherwise -- who keeps trying to revive the melodrama. It's over, Hillary came out strong for Obama, and gave McCain a nice kick in the ass:
"No way, no how, no McCain."
Good for you, Hillary. Well done.
This Democrat thanks you.
