Hillary's speech last night was all we could ask for, second-guessing at this point is moot, ridiculous and divisive ... feeding into the right 'she didn't mean it' position. She meant it. This white, middle-class, middle-aged feminist has been an Obama supporter since Day One, but last night for the first time, I embraced Hillary.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not embracing her to be my president, but to voice my concerns. Not my leader, but my comrade-in-arms. She did more than than show us the true spirit of the Democratic party, more than open the door to unification, more than to give Obama her resounding support. She showed that women can play the game, that women can play hard, play tough, get dirty, and yes, we can lose and get up and want to play some more. To all you Hillary supporters, I get it. I'm still as strong as ever for Obama, but we need Hillary ... not just for this election, not just for women, not just for the democratic party, but for us all.
She gave her support to us and allowed her personal desires to be subsumed by the needs of the Americans everywhere. She loves her country and she loves the game. She still wants to play. She still wants to win. She wants us to win. She's the Olympian who won the silver in the individual contest, and now is working to help the team bring home the gold.
I was very disappointed upon reading many of the diaries still coming out 'against' Hillary, finding fault. Come on guys... she's on our team. You don't win a race by tripping your teammates. Don't accuse her of doing what you're doing. I don't care WHY she's playing right now, I like HOW she's playing and am happy we're on the same team. Thanks Hillary and you go girl!
Obama Here. Obama Now.
