OK, I've seen some great speeches and will continue to do the same, but one thing is bugging me. What relic is picking the music that's playing between speeches?
Two examples of music I've heard: Toto and The Pointer Sisters.
Freakin' TOTO?!
Toto stopped selling large amounts of records on these shores during the Reagan Recession of 1982. The Pointer Sisters last had a song in wide release of any importance on the soundtrack of Beverly Hills Cop - the FIRST Beverly Hills Cop.
Obama, by all accounts, has brought in record numbers of younger voters. Can we indulge them by playing something that's been recorded in their lifetimes?
This truly is the equivalent of James Watt scratching the Beach Boys for Wayne Newton. Of course, none of the younger voters remember THAT reference either.
In true Democratic fashion, I now open the floor to nominations for inspiring convention music. Toto only ever inspired me to change the channel.
I know it's old, but here's mine. Hat tip to Atrios for doing this first weeks ago on Eschaton.
