I can't turn on the news, watch convention coverage, enjoy watching any commentary on the historic nomination without being inundated with calls by pundits for red meat?
Dismissing the fact that the term is horribly distasteful, since when does Pat Buchanon get to tell Democrats that there isn't enough red meat?
Ive heard it from Rachael Maddow, Joe Scarborough, just about everyone.
Obama doesn't have the killer instinct, he cant close the deal, he needs to "gut John Mccain and throw out some red meat"
The amazing short sightedness of that is mind boggling, and it demonstrates why Barack is our nominee and Pat Buchanon never got close.
We have a positive message of hope and change. We have an adversary who is a war hero. How does red meat fit into this?
Bill Clinton said it well, Barack is on the right side of history. Barack is on the right side of all the issues that matter.
The Iraq war
The Economy
Healthcare
Energy
The environment
Foreign affairs
and on and on and on.
Barack has a plan and John McCain does not. Why would we let anyone distract us from this by getting embroiled in a knife fight?
I urge Democrats to trumpet the issues, when someone slanders, counter with our platform.
I hold the american public in high regard, I know that they will vote in an enlightened educated way. It is our job to connect with the public, frame the issues that are important to them and present our plans to the people: I dont see how red meat fits in? Who has time for red meat, gutting, knife fights?
If you feel that the public will fall for Karl Rove tactics again you don't understand the appeal of Barack Obama. Barack has resonated because he does not talk down to us, he explains issues to us- engages us in discussions and shares his thoughts on issues with us.
He does not talk to us like we are incapable of understanding, like we're a lynch mob yearning for red meat. I am happy with the Barack we nominated, and I am confident that as Bill said we are indeed on the right side of history.
