CNN's political analyst team seams to be split on what to say about Obama's speech tonight. On the one hand, there are the four analysts beside themselves in wonder. Then, there's the one who is right.
Forget that Gloria Borger gave him an 'A'. Sure, you might think that "Obama was tough. He took on McCain on every point, including commander in chief. For those who think that Obama is not tough, he took it to John McCain directly and forcefully."
Unfortunately, you'd be wrong.
Forget that Alex Castellanos also gave him an 'A', saying that "The speech demonstrated great strength and confidence. He challenged McCain directly, without blinking, but respectfully."
Yeah. Sure. Whatever. Wrong again.
More false praise of Obama's C-grade speech below the fold.
Hillary Rosen was also unjustifiably impressed, saying that "Barack Obama delivered a path for change. He was specific enough to give comfort to those seeking more "meat" and yet he challenged us to not make big elections about small things." (A)
Please. Is that the best you've got, liberal swine?
David Gergen, the hippy sissy boy, seemed to want to talk about 'art' this and 'masterpiece' that. "If Obama becomes president, I think we will look back and say that this was one of the turning points. As a political speech, it was a masterpiece." (A)
What a bunch of left-wing nuts.
No: the political analyst on CNN's team that I intend to listen to understands that no matter what you do, you can never admit that a Democrat has done an amazing job, unless that Democrat in question unnecessarily praises the Republican presidential candidate. (She gave Bill Clinton an A.)
No. Obama's mediocre speech tonight is strongly in 'C' territory. As Leslie Sanchez says, "You can give Obama an "A" for his great oratory and political victories. But once you remove the gloss, tonight's speech was the same tired Democratic rhetoric of the past 30 years."
(In other news, Leslie Sanchez's tight-ass speech scoring system has given John McCain a 0% grade on every speech he has ever given, and actually entered negative numbers during the day of the Green Screen fiasco. "That's not change we can believe in!")
