After recklessly attacking Obamas patriotism and casting hims as too inexperienced, John McCain just chose the most inexperienced running mate in recent history. John McCain really seems to change his mind as often as common people change their underwear.
John McCain had multiple instances of cancer, which he luckily survived. He just turned 72, just 4 years younger than former british Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who has just confirmed to suffer from dementia.
And John McCain certainly seems to forget a lot of things lately. He couldnt remember how many houses he owns, nor did he remember what car he drives. He also has forgotten, that he once supported comprehensive immigration reform. He has forgotten his disdain for the smear tactics of Karl Rove, which he is employing in his current campaign, as if it had been his style of campaigning all along. He cant remember, that he was against Bushs tax cuts for the rich, he is now in favor of. And he must have forgotten his promise to change the Republican party plattform, to allow abortions when the life of a mother is at risk, or in case of rape.
Thats an awfully lot of things John McCain cant remember. Whether thats just a case of a maverick turning into a typical Republican party soldier, standing in line with the extremist policies of his party or whether it is a clinical problem – America should be concerned!
Sarah Palin will only be one heartbeat away from the presidency. A woman, who two years ago was the mayor of a town with only 6000 people. And after just one and a half years, she has obviously enough of being governor of the least populous state of the nation. Not exactly the steadyness you want at the helm of our country.
But there is another disturbing pattern. With John McCain and Sarah Palin we now have two politicians on the Republican ticket who are really showing questionable family values. Both obviously have no problem leaving the people behind, they should love and care for the most. Sarah Palin just gave birth to a baby this year in April. And tragically her boy had been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. While she should be applauded for not having an abortion and taking it upon her to raise a seriously ill child, what kind of mother would submit her five month old baby to the stressful ordeal of a national campaign for president? Is her husband, who works for Big Oil, suddenly going to take over as Big Daddy?
And John McCain wasnt any better. When he came back from military prison in Vietnam, he came back into the loving arms of his wife, who had lost both her legs in a tragic traffic incident. And what did John McCain do? He turned to a 20 year younger, super rich, former cheerleader and began an adulturous affair for many months. He then married Cindy McCain, before he was legally divorced from his wife, as documents have shown.
The Republican ticket is a wonderful example of bigotry. They leave their loved ones behind, like a commodity, while they criticize gay men for wanting to live together in a loving partnership. The cognitive dissonance is deafening.
When it comes to compassion, they are all talk and no cattle. They make a law and name it "No Child left behind" only to leave millions of kids behind, by not providing them the necessary ressources for a quality education. John McCain rather ate cake with George Bush one year ago, when Katrina struck New Orleans, leaving behind a devastated city with no coordinated effort for help. And when it comes to stem cell research, they leave not only the sick behind with no hope for a cure, but they leave our country behind, because the world does not wait for us finding cures through science and modern medicine.
If you dont want to be left behind, if you want to be a part of the future instead of fighting the battles of the past. If you want to lead a better life that generations before you, there really is no choice but to vote Barack Obama and Joe Biden in November.
We are at a crossroads. There may never have been a more important election in our lifetime. And we might actually loose Geraldine Ferraro at this junction. But millions of reasonable people will choose science over creationism, hope over fear, superior judgement over so called experience and two men who really care about women over a woman and a man who want to take away a womans right to choose.
If all that doesnt motivate you. Nothing ever will.
