I just read a news column by Debra Saunders of the San Francisco Chronicle. Either Saunders published a McCain/Rove press release verbatim or she should be on the Republican payroll... Saunders goes down Palin's list of weak and negatives and turns all them lemons into lemonade, or is it lemon flavor kool-aid?
Saunders Pro-Palin Talking Points in SF Chronicle
For Republicans angry at Washington's big-spending bonanza when Republicans controlled the White House and Congress, Palin, like McCain, is an antidote. She is the Alaskan who pulled state support for the infamous Bridge to Nowhere and bucked Alaska's congressional and state Republican leaders
.
She calls Palin
"a maverick, like McCain's a maverick. She complements his ardent opposition, not only to congressional earmarks, but also to the pork-rich farm bill and ethanol subsidies supported by Obama."
But that is not the cherry on top of the big love note that Saunders hearts to Palin more below the fold
This is the money quote as far as I am concerned...
That said, as a governor, Palin has more experience running a government than Obama, who began serving his first term in the U.S. Senate in 2004. And unlike Obama, Palin has shown herself willing to challenge the jaded ethical policies within her party. That's change.
Debra Saunders must be smoking some mighty good stuff to have been able to come up with such a rosy prognosis for Palin as someone who aspires to be One Heartbeat Away.... I know that BC Bud from Canada is supposed to be the top smoke these days, but it looks like the whiff of Palin's candidacy has Saunders' neural synapses spinning on hyperdrive...
It seems to me that Saunders might need a little more information and maybe some different perspectives on the truth about Palin's short time in the public spotlight... she totally ignored Palin's creationist bent, and is still excited even though Palin is fervently anti-choice, even in cases of rape and incest and Saunders says she is pro-choice and preferred Tom Ridge....
of course, Saunders' reaction to Biden's being picked by Obama was something along the lines of "ho-hum".....
The problem with columns like these is that they get picked up by Google News and millions more people read them, plus they supply even more columnists and pundits with arguments that are structured using the same "I will believe what supports my fantasy" logic, along the same logical lines as the ones used to push Creation fantasy as an alternative science that should be taught alongside the godless evolution-based science... this is dangerous stuff, folks...
oh yeah, you can let Saunders know what you think of her doing McCain and Rove a favor by publishing these Department of Truth talking points as fact based commentary
