John McCain immature you ask?
What POSSILBLE facts could you have to prove this at all?
How could this be helpful?
Will it stick?
Can Obama do this without resorting to the low road?
I'll try to answer these, and more below the fold, organized into chapters, even.
[Opening]->
First, I believe a good way for the Obama campaign, the DNC, and Obama supporters to go, would be to frame McCain as immature. Not immature as in age, because we all know that's not true. I'm talking about immature in action. And a person who is immature in action should never sit near the chair of the oval office.
We've seen it with Bush. He was very immature with his actions. His actions, backed by the neoconservative movement of people like Rumsfeld and Rove who, for some reason, believe we should own everything and have no repercussion to our irresponsible actions.
[Evidence]->
The key evidence I cite: the ad featuring guest stars such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. When people think politics, you don't think Spears and Hilton. Spears and Hilton are covered by the media for their irresponsible actions, yet Barack Obama presents a direction for America to go. John McCain does not have a plan. John McCain is acting like the 15 year old girls chattering away about Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. John McCain isn't ready to talk about presidential politics. Britney Spears and Paris Hilton? Why is this guy being permitted to waste our time?
[Playground taunting]->
Have you ever had an after-school fight? When someone asked the victor if they had won or not, they would act very proud of the fact that they won, and probably brag about it? John McCain was bragging like a middle school brat over how proud he was of his ad. John McCain is too busy throwing playground taunts to be speaking at a presidential level.
[Improper Property?]->
Oh, wait. It seems John McCain hasn't gotten to middle school math yet. He couldn't have even touched algebra, so no wonder he can't talk about the economy. His transitive property knowledge is surprisingly questionable. (Transitive property review: If a=b, and b=c, then a=c --> Therefore: If Paris Hilton=Barack Obama, and Barack Obama=Moses, then Paris Hilton=Moses?)
If McCain's math is so bad, he's probably going to pick Romney. Just a personal prediction. The man can't talk economy worth a [expletive], and it's issue number one on most voters minds. Obama does better.
[Counter-Attack vs. "Painting"]->
I think it would be very effective if it is treated as a counter attack to McCain's actions. Let the neocons put out more stupid ads like this, then really hit McCain hard on the maturity issue. Find all things to press on him, as if you don't have enough. Hammer down people throats that McCain is immature, Bush is immature, therefore McCain=Bush.
The way the republicans are trying to play is very dirty. We need to give people substantive reasons not to trust them with the position of commander in cheif. Immaturity is a good reason. Especially if linked to Bush.
[Appropriate attack for Obama?]->
It seems an Obama appropriate attack. McCain's immaturity is connected to Washington's same old politics. This should be particularly enticing for Obama; it's a problem he's often tried to fight in the primary. For him to hit McCain on that would be to ignite the fires he had during the primary. Connect McCain to the lobbyists for people to see. Build a website with his name linked to lobbyists, ... he's done it to us.
[The rigor of studies in University]->
Most importantly, it puts Obama in charge. Have Obama chide that McCain wouldn't have passed the class he taught if he took all those weekends off; just as McCain has done earlier in the campaign. Something like "The schedule was too rigorous to take weekend after weekend not to review the material. John McCain finished 5th from the bottom of his class. From the Naval Academy. [Writer's note: I hate Naval Academy. I west to West Point and will forever have a grudge. USMA has graduated 200% more presidents than the Naval academy (2-1) and I hope to keep it that way.]
Barack Obama was the president of his Harvard Law review. John McCain could barely pass class. I guess he was too much of a [expletive] rebel to take responsibility unto himself to earn a good education, since the taxpayers do pay for it. Why was John McCain wasting taxpayer money cruising though a free education? Why is Barack Obama having a hard time, even though he managed fairly well to have graduated from Harvard while serving on extracurriculars which impressed everyone in the school, but John McCain was smoking and joking his way to being the goat or the mule or whatever they call it at the naval academy. (Side note: At USMA, person with the lowest grade gets paid a small amount by everyone else. with 1000 people per class chipping around $5, whew... too bad McCain was close, but not close enough.)
[Volunteer to spread the message]->
I'm asking us to gather as a team here. When we speak to people, when must make McCain seem like the childish fool he is. Use what he uses against him. Ask people is he mature enough to lead? It'll be one of those fun things that will grab attention, and then when it goes into detail, it sounds plausible.
I believe it will stick if it is pushed as a response ad.
I wish I knew an awesome video maker like JedReport
who could make my vision come to life...
Do what you can to spread the meme that McCain is immature. Send this to campaign HQ, or discuss how to implement this. I feel it would be a good idea to do, and we need people to do it.
[The real question: The Low Road?]->
Unfortunately, the real question is when is "Baracky" going to start to prove to be a fighter-- something his opponent during the primary really used and proved-- and start fighting for this election? Clinton had a lot of appeal as a fighter. And a good portion of Obama supporters want to see the "nitty gritty" on John McCain, just so they have something to talk about to the magical group set to control every election, the independents.
It may not be that way this year however. Because many independents were forced to either sit out their support for their candidate at the start of the primary, or register to help, many had registered as a democrat. It certainly proved true for me. That portion of independents who changed registration may have either supported Clinton or Obama, which causes the side who lost that hardfought primary battle who changed to support Clinton still up for "grabs." Many seem to be supporting McCain, while the majority are actually supporting Obama. Even though he has always done very well with independents, John McCain will present a tougher challenge on this front. He seems to be targeting independents, but many times he offsets his base as a result.
So, instead of a "Democrat vs Republican" election based on numbers, which looks very good for democrats should that happen, They are both trying to tip the scales in their favor. The result has a lot of backlash towards Obama (FISA, the oncomining resistance for offshore drilling, etc)and McCain's base is just generally unenthusiastic. Republicans don't really see him as one of theirs.
That either means they will stay home, or hold their nose and vote for McCain. Democrats have the edge in this, as most dems will be making sure they vote for Obama on Nov 4.
A play for independents is a strategic move designed to help win this election. Using the theme of McCain is immature may have a good chance of peeling of the higher minded independents, and may even put McCain's base off more.
Is this type of painting the low road? Or, because it is designed for individuals to think better of their politicians, is this appropriate and acceptable?
[Book promotion and demotion]->
+The Rise of Barack Obama by Pete Souza.
A great behind the scenes with Obama from the time he was elected to the senate until what appears to be the PA primary. It is full of photographic evidence proving Obama getting in field experience as a U.S. senator.
-Obama Nation by Jerome R. Corsi.
This book is a written hit-piece on Obama from the same person who had written a hit-piece on Kerry. This book is using republican political posturing, and places it into a many paged firelog. This book is a piece of crap written by a hit-piece writer. They were really pushing it at a Barnes and Nobles in VA where I live. A signal of a tough fight.
