I know that sounds very harsh and probably not something the Obama campaign would condone, but IMO, Obama is going to have to go Chicago on them. The Republicans are now using her lack of experience to question Obama's legitimacy as the Democratic candidate, when the real question should be about QUALITY of experience and judgment.
I saw the Dems trying to argue this point, besides being in shock because of McCain's decision, many were having a very hard time defending Obama.
The Republicans have successfully turned the tables and made this election about Obama.
Obama needs to be respectful while eviscerating both McCain and Palin.
Obama will have to again prove he is Presidential material by going directly after John McCain judgment and Palin as a choice for VP and he should do it at a large press conference. Truthfully, Biden can not / should not try to do it, Obama has to do it, it's his fight. All I can hear is Sean Connery in the Untouchables, "You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone! Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?" The Repubs have taken this campaign to a new level.
GAMEPLAN:
Take McCain on for his reckless, risky, and rushed decision to pick a person who not only does not have a penny's worth of foreign policy experience but did not have the slightest interest about Iraq in 2007. McCain has beat the "extreme threat of Islamic fundamentalists" on a daily basis and how Obama experience is inadequate, however he chosen Palin and says is it the best person to lead the country...IS MCCAIN F*CKING CRAZY? Has he lost his mind? Tie this decision to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
Obama will need to talk about his education: Columbia & Harvard - political science & international relations, president of law review and a JD. Compared to a BS in Journalism from University of Idaho? REALLY? Honestly, I would take on McCain's academic performance.
His work as a community organizer. His 8 years as a state senator is a district was 40000 times bigger than Wasilla (I don't have the exact numbers but the difference is outrageous) AND one political commentator said she was a part-time mayor. All his accomplishments as a state senator including the health insurance bill, welfare to work, predatory lending and so on, BE SPECIFIC. And since some one will bring up voting absent 100 times don't forget to mention the 4000(?) votes he was present for. (Truth be told, I would go into McCain's reportedly bad performance in the military..but that is just me).
Then compare his national/international experience in the Senate including working with, developing relationships with national and international leaders to Palin's 18 months as a govenor of a state that has population of Charlotte, NC. Mention the exact number of the hundreds of pieces of legislation Obama has worked on and the issues (economic reform, veteren's affairs, nuclear proliferation, AND BE SPECIFIC).
Not to mention Obama has proven his executive experience by running the most successful primary campaign ever by managing millions of dollars and a large staff. And he had to prove himself during debates and develop domestic, economic and foreign policy positions. This would be a good time to bring up McCain admitted lack of knowledge about economics and compare AGAIN compare Obama's past judgment (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq to McCain).
And don't forget to compare Obama's (and Biden's) records on women's issues to McCain's and Palin's records. I would put this all in a nice powerpoint presentation and upload it to the 'net.
It's unbelievable that after all the work Obama has put into his life, his career, his campaign, and WINNING THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION against extremely formidable opponents, he is now in a competition with a relative unknown with 2 months before the election...and remember this country likes "folksy" candidates, Bush was President twice.
