There have been times when this website nails it on the head. The Iraq War, health care, global warming, civil liberties. Then there are times this website acts like hyenas ready to pounce and scavenge at anything the opposition does.
I'll make this very short and sweet. The message we heard on Thursday night is one of hope, of change AND ABOUT ISSUES. It is not a message about anything but who is willing to take the country into a bold new generation. Yet, this website has devoted the past 24 hours on anything but that message. To claim we are distracted is an understatement.
Obama dared us to be bold and try to perpetuate a positive vision for the future. Instead, we immerse ourselves into bs that has nothing to do with that vision. The vision which Hillary Clinton successfully promoted and spoke about so eloquently Tuesday night is not a trickle in anyone's conscience today. We do our party no favors by rolling around in the mud of slander because we detract from his vision.
In case we forgot about what that mission is, I'll spell it out:
End the war in Iraq and bring our children home with respect
Provide the same health care for all Americans as members of Congress voted for themselves
Reduce our dependence on foreign oil
Clean up our planet
Help all Americans get a job who want to work
Fix the mortgage crisis
End poverty
Return government to the rule of law by adhering to the Constitution
Close Guantanamo
End torture
Find Bin Laden
Re-establish our relations with foreign countries
Make sure the 3 or 4 Supreme Court nominations in the next 4 years are not Antonin Scalia clones
As long as those are the issues we talk about and promote, Obama will be our next president. Obsess about all the other bullshit, watch McCain sit in the oval office the next 4 years.
