McCain touts the safety of nuclear power at a plant that had a partial meltdown in 1966. Just like his earlier claim, "I know how to win wars," apparently McCain's claim that "I knew it was safe then, and I know it’s safe now" has got no juice.

What will it take for the carbon-based media to report that McCain knows nothing about energy policy? Will it be NASCAR coming out in favor of the tire-pressure plank in Obama's energy platform, or Obama looking favorable toward the sensible parts of crazy-ass T. Boone Pickens' energy plan?
From coast to coast, anyone with a lick of sense can tell you that meltdowns and offshore oil spills (like the 124 caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and the one that precipitated McCain's cancelled oil-rig speech) are a waste of our time and money.
An Obama administration, on the other hand, would channel $150 billion over ten years to help us make fossil fuels obsolete.
And Obama wants to eliminate all nuclear weapons period end of sentence.
The right loves to say, "You don't have any civil liberties if you're dead." Well, you don't have any homeland security if your planet can no longer support human life. The choice is yours. You can have "Drill now!" the Newt Gingrich mantra cum McCain schoolyard taunt brought to you by Cheney and Sons, LLC, or an energy-independent future, brought to you by Gore, Obama, a bunch of Americans going back to work, and planet grateful to be able to breathe again.
When you're in a hole, stop drilling. And for God's sake don't put a nuclear reactor down there-- the hole will go all the way to China!
