Seriously the hand wringing on here in the last 10 days has been painful to read, and even more painful viewing it from the other side of the Atlantic. It's like some want to lose, or be able to say 'I told you so'
Why the panic? Why the worry?
As a progressive from Aboard, I just wanted to say, keep the faith, and complete the job.
I do really worry about some people on here, they almost have a death wish, every bit of bad news is seen as the worst possible thing, and even when the Obama campaign hit back, it's never quite good enough.
There is still 2 months to go, a long time in any election cycle, the issues will out, the hits will be even harder, and the Obama/Democratic message will come through.
The Palin thing is something that will blow up in the GOP's face, ok the base is overly excited that they have one of there own, but she can't keep playing the victim, when she gets exposed it'll be a huge problem for the Republican campaign, like a house of cards being blown over. The pig thing is one of the most overblown bit of stupidness I've ever seen, it smacks of an overreach by them, not us.
Finally the Media, you don't have a 'Representation of the People act' like we have, where coverage in elections needs to be impartial, but there is certainly the start of a backlash happening, more and more commentators are starting to react to the McCain slash and burn campaign, and are starting to grown the balls to front it off. It might be minor but the way CBS has reacted to the McCain ad on youtube is a big deal.
Don't give up on this please, polls will go and down, but America needs to renew itself, the rest of the world wants you to, and I know that there are at least 170,000 people on here who want and will work to ensure the renewal happens.
You're a country which always looks forward, so I hope you complete the deal, and you make sure you get Barack over the line and don't let the doom mongers among us to bring you down.
