I searched and haven't yet seen anyone post about this but the Huffington Post has reported the Republicans are once again push-pollng.
Just as we saw in 2000 and 2004 the Republicans have again resorted to focusing the election away from the major issues we face today. While the stock market fluctates by hundreds of points, oil prices skyrocket, foreclosures rise, more people lose their job, the dollar continues to weaken, and while we are still involved in two wars even though Al Queda becomes stronger McCain/Pallin talk about bridges, ebay, planes and chefs, and now lipstick. The Republicans are also having a major push polling campaign in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The polling is being done by Opinion Access Corp. (http://www.opinionaccess.com/) and they are asking voters about false and disgusting statements about Senator Obama:
"that he (Obama) voted to let convicted child sex offenders out early,
voted to allow convicted child sex offenders to live near schools,
is for sex education in Kindergarten,
voted for some offensive and incredibly graphic abortion procedure,
voted against requiring schools to install monitoring software for pornography,
Obama's spiritual advisor stated that US created HIV to kill people of color
Has voted to restrict 2nd amendment rights,
voted against toughening policies against gang members"
Is the American public going to be fooled again by these juvenile tactics? Can we not see beyond the superficial and take the time to demand that the election stay on the issues? Will we allow the Republicans to have a candidate for VP who is kept isolated by them so no one can ask her questions to see if she knows anything about national and foreign policies?
As I write this, today is September 11th. I'm a New Yorker who clearly remembers the terror of that day. Here is a question Hilary Rosen posed on CNN, a serious one all American should think about:
On 9/11 President Bush was out of contact. Vice President Cheney was making a decision to shoot down an American commercial airliner heading for the White House. Do we want a person who only has experience as a 1.5 year governor to someday be the person who makes these decisions? I do not. I want such decisions to be made by officials who are experienced in national and foreign policy. Not a 'hockey mom who wears lipstick'.
