Death had come into the land from the time Osiris had been closed in the chest through the cunning of Seth; war was in the land; men always had arms in their hands. No longer did music sound, no longer did men and women talk sweetly and out of the depths of their feelings.
Two people meet, they fall in love. They have everything in common, and each makes the other a better person. After a year, they get married. They buy a house, move in, and begin to develop a group of friends in the area. A year later, they have their first child. When she is born, they feel like they couldn’t have a better life. She is their most perfect joy. On her first birthday, the husband fails to return from work. He has lost his job. When he finally returns at two in the morning, the wife begins yelling when he walks through the door, “Where have you been! This is your daughter’s first birthday! How could you miss it?”
The husband tells her he lost his job, and they continue to argue. He defends himself, and she wants to know how they are going to support their daughter now that only she has a job. What about daycare? What about saving for college? After an hour of argument, the husband leaves.
The next day, he returns. He promises to get a new job and apologizes for the way he handled everything. She stands, her white blanket still wrapped around her shoulders, and takes him in her arms.
And coming into Egypt she opened the chest, and took the body of her lord and husband out of it. She breathed into his mouth, and, with the motion of her wings (for Isis, being divine, could assume wings), she brought life back to Osiris.
Over a few months, they work out their problems. Money is tight, the husband’s new job doesn’t pay quite as well, but the wife works more than before and they make do. They are happy again.

Then, the husband gets called up. He joined the Army reserve years ago and never thought much of it. Now he must go oversees leaving his wife and two year old daughter. After a year serving, he is killed.
Over the years as the little girl grows up, she becomes a great joy to her mother. The girl helps around the house, and pretends she doesn’t hear her mother crying in the kitchen on the nights when she misses her husband. The mother takes great joy in her daughter, but she retains a sadness just beneath the surface that she refuses to release.
Horus grew up, and he strove against the evil power of Seth. In battle he overcame him, and in bonds he brought the evil Seth, the destroyer of his father, before Isis, his mother. Isis would not have Seth slain: still he lives, but now he is of the lesser Gods, and his power for evil is not so great as it was in the time before Horus grew to be the avenger of his father.
