So I have been paying attention to the polls the past few days. It doesn't look good for us.
FiveThirtyEight has changed its prediction from a wide Obama lead after the convention to a thin Obama victory after the RNC to as of yesterday a thin 261-277
I think Sarah Palin is the first Vice Presidential candidate that has significantly helped their presidential ticket. Want proof?
Rasmussen
Yes, this is North Dakota, but its MY North Dakota. I am embedded into an evangelical church in Fargo and I can tell you that there is a lot more excitement about Palin than there was about McCain. This is not an outlier. It is a trend. I don't know if the trend is too high or too low, but it has calmed the fears of many cultural conservatives that would have made up the swing voters in the state.
Palin has also managed to take Ohio from tilt Obama to lean McCain, along with Colorado and Virginia.
That means that if the election were held TODAY, that John McCain would be the president. The silver lining? The election is not being held today, and Barack has ten times the ground game that McCain has in these states.
I do not think John McCain will lose win the election, I have every belief that Obama will win in November, but it is going to take some greater strategery on our part.
How do we turn these states back towards Obama? Simple. We make them remember that the Republican nominee for president is not Sarah Palin, but John S. McCain. We use the arguments that took us from even to 5 - 10 points ahead two weeks ago. We focus like a laser on John McCain. We make this election about him again.
He is the one who will be president on January 20th, and he is the one that people in my state don't like. He is the one that they are unsure about in Colorado and Virginia and Ohio. We make this about the fact that John McCain will let companies continue to send your jobs overseas. He is the one that doesn't remember how many houses he owns. He is the one that is out of touch with regular Americans.
The selction of Sarah Palin did exactly what the Republican strategists wanted. It made us focus on them. We need to remind America about who Barack Obama and Joe Biden are. We need to remind them that we have two people that will ACTUALLY change Washington and solve the healthcare crisis, the economic crisis, the climate crisis, and the crisis of a Washington out of touch with America.
Lets do it, people. Lets get back on the game we had two weeks ago. That's what will win this election.
