Sorry folks, we can't just hope people do the right thing and vote Obama in those states where racism is institutionalized. But Obama can't do anything about it himself. We need those good ol' 527s to do some positive work.
I hear that in places like MI, unions are working toward that. As an NYC ad-man, I think what we need is some real life 30 sec spots that get to the heart of it, don't patronize, and make the case. Here's my attempt (after the jump). It times out to 30 secs. What about you? Any ideas for a spot?

"I know what you're saying: you just can't vote for a black man. That's just how you grew up. It's what you know.
But where will we be with John McCain? What will happen when your town loses the factory, you lose your job, you lose your house? That's where we're headed under George Bush and with John McCain.
Don't let it happen. You know you need the country to change. But this country can't change unless you change too. So this election day, help restore America. Vote for Barack Obama."
Hey, if anyone wants to make this spot, go right ahead.... :D
