Salon has the story of Sarah Palin's wasteful ways. When former Wasilla City Council member Nick Carney - a man largely responsible for Sarah's initial jump into politics - was asked about Mrs. Palin's executive abilities, he replied "Executive abilities? She doesn't have any."
There's mo' below...
Palin ran against the "tax and spend mentality" of her incumbent opponent but as soon as she was elected, showed the tax payers of Wasilla how it was going to be: She spent more than $50,000 of their money redecorating her office.
According to Carney:
I thought it was an outrageous expense, especially for someone who had run as a budget cutter," said Carney. "It was also illegal, because Sarah had not received the council's approval"
Illegal, schmeagal... Sarah didn't care! She replied:
"I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't."
Great attitude there, Sarah! Not only that, but she showed a lot of class as far as her interior decorating skills go. I know this will come as a big shocker but again, according to Carney, after her redecorating job, the mayor's office "Looked like a bordello".
But this isn't just about Mrs. Palin's lack of good taste; it's about her lack of ethics. Where on earth did she get the money to blow fifty grand on making her office look like the house of ill repute that it really was?
Again, Carney says Palin paid for it from a city highway fund that was supposed to be used for the citizens of Wasilla to plow snow, fill potholes and grade the roads - something your average Alaskan might welcome considering the weather. Well where are their priorities? Sarah's office needs a fix-up! F*** the citizens and their stupid roads!
But another damning indictment against Sarah is made by one Michelle Church - a member of the Mat-Su Borough Assembly, who knows Palin socially:
As vice-president she'll certainly have to rely on faceless advisors with no public accountability. Haven't we had enough of that in the past eight years?
That's a damn good question, don't you think?
I don't want to quote any more so please visit the Salon article to read more about what Sarah Palin's colleagues who know her the best, think about her judgement and leadership. Maybe email the link to some friends. This woman couldn't handle being the mayor of a tiny town in Alaska and to think she might become the President of The United States is truly horrifying to anyone with a functioning brain stem.
