I want my politicians to be honest. Honest with me, honest with the public in general. So what does it tell you when John McCain and Sarah Palin cant even be honest from the start.
I have watched the coverage of Mrs. Palin and how her "mavericky" image will ignite the masses to vote Repug. Problem is, all we have seen since last Fridays announcement is more of the same. They just cant get it through their heads that the American people are not stupid.
We have been through the last eight years of an administration hiding things from the public. John McCain said he was going to change all that. Open governing was the watchwords. But...
It didn't take him even 1 day after announcing his Vice President to show us that nothing has changed. During Mrs. Palin's announcement speech, we see her daughter Bristol holding the Palin's new son. Isn't that cute. For the publicity shot, we see Bristol mostly hidden behind her family. All in an attempt to hide her baby belly. It seems a black mark on the "brand" that they wanted hidden from view. It didn't just happen. Those were staged shots and calculated angles. If you look at Bristol, you can see fear in her eyes (when holding the baby). I find that frightening when a mother will put her daughter through something like that instead of just being forthcoming.
This is no indictment of Bristol. I wish her all the best. Things happen.
This is an indictment of the Republican Party that has built their wholesome image to the point that they hide what they dont want seen. Their admonition that they know what is best for American, seems to mean they know what is best for us, but will hide any uglyness from us (to protect us).
