History Soon Forgotten
Politicians have short memories. That’s not a statement; it’s a fact. Opening the RNC’s second day of procedures; Fred Thompson fell victim to the Republican plague of memory issues. That night Fred Thompson proclaimed:
"Together, they would take on these urgent challenges with protectionism, higher taxes and an even bigger bureaucracy."
This memory lapse seemed to further extend to Mitt Romney’s speech the next night:
"Is government spending, putting aside inflation, liberal or conservative if it doubles since 1980? It’s liberal. We need change all right: change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington... You see, liberals would replace opportunity with dependency on government largesse. They grow government and raise taxes to put more people on Medicaid, to take work requirements out of welfare, and to grow the ranks of those who pay no taxes at all...Democrats want to use the slowdown as an excuse to do what their special interests are always begging for: higher taxes, bigger government, and less trade with other nations."
Even the speaker of the night, Sarah Palin, forgot history:
"He answer is to make government bigger, take more of your money ... give you more orders from Washington, and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world...Congress spends too much, he promises more, Taxes are too high, he wants to raise them. ..His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific...The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars. My sister Heather and her husband have just built a service station that's now opened for business - like millions of others who run small businesses."
Yes they have all forgotten. Let us travel back, back, back: to better times. Bill Clinton was in office. The Federal Government had trillions of dollars in surplus. George W. Bush won the 2000 election. Started a war, left that war unfinished, started an unnecessary war, and sank our country into a 4 trillion dollar deficit.
None of this money was spent on America. None of this money benefited our economy. It all went to another country and another people. You’re hard earned tax dollars; your sons, and your daughters. In fact because of this war and debt each American Citizen and every one that is born for the next 50 years is in fact $400,000 in debt with the likes of China and Japan.
This liberal spending? It was brought around by the "Conservative" Republicans in the Presidency and Senate.
Despite all this debt; the Democrats social projects could be feasibly completed; and would cost way less than one trillion dollars; that’s 1/4th of the Republicans debt under the Bush Administration.
Believe it or not; 80% of Americans would pay fewer taxes under these new tax plans as well. And also, 95% of Americans would have healthcare coverage; the minimum wage would go up; and the quality of living would also likely increase.
All this comes at a price of course. That price involves not spending billions of dollars a year on building other countries infrastructures and trying to control the entire world. We would instead have to spend that money at home; at the actual benefit of the American people, not just everyone else.
Nasty Words
Beyond the infantile ignorance of the Republican speakers and their right wing core; there is an unsettling violence displayed within the undercurrent of the RNC. Rudy Giuliani couldn’t contain his laughter when he belittled Obama for being a Community Organizer. Imagine that, helping people in urban cities! What an evil job...

Meanwhile, here in reality; the American people wake up each day thinking about the real problems; and the facts. They think about the government using trillions of their tax dollars overseas benefiting everyone but them. They think about how hard things are because of our failing economy. They think about the high price of gas. They think about everything, everything, everything but sending more money overseas as a solution to the troubles at home. They think about everything but playing the country as a Gambit to the entire Republican idea of "Freedom."
Yet today, that’s the Republicans only solution. It’s the Republican Gambit.
