I've just learned that the Colorado Democratic senatorial candidate Mark Udall (CO-02) and the Republican senatorial candidate Bob Schaeffer will debate on Meet the Press this Sunday. This will be an extremely important debate as Colorado, according to the most recent polls, shows a tight race on both the Presidential and Senatorial levels.
Mark Udall is going to need our help. Not because he can't win this thing without us...I think he will pull this off. But because the more fired up we can get the residents of Colorado to come out and vote for Udall - the more votes we'll get for Obama. Colorado needs to go blue this year....and you can help.
More after the flip.
According to Pollster.com, Mark Udall is averaging just over a four point lead in the race...but it's tightening.
Pollster.com shows the Presidential race in Colorado even tighter, with Obama narrowly hanging on to a one point lead.
Mark Udall is a very well known politician in the state. He's extremely popular in Colorado's 2nd congressional district which he's represented since 1998.
Bob Schaeffer was a one-time representative from the State and is turning into a perennial Senate campaigner, losing to Pete Coors as the Republican party's nominee in 2004 (Coors lost to Democrat Ken Salazar).
This is how it will work in Colorado -
A Udall loss means an Obama loss.
A Udall win doesn't guarantee an Obama win - but the larger the margin of Udall's win, the better chance Obama will win the State.
What does that mean? It means, like most things related to a political campaign, Mark Udall needs your help - monetarily. He's going to be getting national recognition this weekend...but so is Schaeffer. The Republicans, fresh off their Palin-Week-Long-Party-To-Nowhere, are going to be tuned into Schaeffer and his needs in Colorado - no doubt resulting in a barrage of donations for his campaign.
We can't let Schaeffer get the edge on this race. Visit Mark Udall's campaign site to learn about him and his positions. Go to his ActBlue page to donate.
I had the opportunity to run into Mark Udall at the airport in DC - we were both flying home. Aside from being a genuinely nice guy, the best part about him was he attire - dressed exactly as he's dressed in his picture on his campaign website - jeans, casual button up, and boots. He's not a stuffy, arrogant, DC insider. We need more Mark Udalls like we need more Barack Obamas.
Please - DONATE NOW- we need Mark to perform strongly in Colorado. The Dems need Colorado this election cycle - Obama needs it. With a strong Mark Udall - we can turn Colorado blue and send Obama to the White House!
