Couldn't help but notice this tidbit from the abysmal Couric interview, when asked why she didn't have a passport until last year:
"I'm not one of those who maybe came from a background of, you know, kids who perhaps graduate college and their parents give them a passport and give them a backpack and say go off and travel the world. No, I've worked all my life. In fact, I usually had two jobs all my life until I had kids. I was not a part of, I guess, that culture."

Oh really, Sarah? Which culture is that exactly? The culture of people who actually know there are 190+ other countries on the planet? The culture of people who maybe speak more than one language? The culture of people who are actually qualified to run for higher office?
I obtained my first passport at 16, when I went to Australia on a student exchange. My family wasn't rich. Hell, we weren't even middle-class. I never backpacked across Europe. I've never been rich, and yet I've somehow managed to travel to three continents beyond North America.
My wife went abroad at 14, and like Sarah Palin, has held down multiple jobs most of her life. She paid her own way to France as a teenager. She backpacked across Scandinavia multiple times at her own expense while working at a non-profit, for God's sake.
This one comment just really fires me up because I think it betrays the contempt with which Palin views foreign experience. That only rich liberals go overseas...after all, the USA is #1 so why should any red-blooded American want to leave?
If I worked in the State Department, I'd be tempted to hand in my resignation if this sad excuse for a politician gets elected.
