I DON'T KNOW WHAT EVERYONE IS YELLING ABOUT!
OK, so I thought some of us could use a sanity diary, and I figger I'm the guy to provide one.
I am not an fancy big-city lawyer, or an economist, or an expert on the credit market. I'm just a dude with a mortgage, a car payment, a credit card or two and a manageable amount of debt.
I really don't know how to feel about this bailout thing. I have tried to educate myself, but my knowledge of the economy goes no farther than "Dollar bills have presidents on them, but some of them aren't even presidents."
But I do know this: If something can be fixed, then you shouldn't worry. And if something cannot be fixed, then there's nothing to worry about. After all, there's nothing you can do about it -- it can't be fixed.
At the end of the day, I'll still have four walls and a roof, something to eat in the fridge, a bottle of booze on top of the fridge, and my wonderful friends and family.
Yeah, maybe my 401(k) will take a hit. Maybe what meager investments I have scratched out for myself will suffer a bit. But all the really good stuff -- the stuff that keeps me going in life -- will still be there.
This diary is a shelter for people who don't really have a dog in this race. Please leave discussion of the bailout, Wall Street, Main Street, the DOW, etc. in other diaries. There's plenty to choose from.
I thought there might be some others who, like me, could use a brief vacation from all this noise, so here's a small bubble of sanity. We can talk about whatever you want.
If this diary isn't welcome, I'll delete it.
