We need to get organized on how to fight the Bush/McCain/Palin ticket.
Let's learn from the Repubs. They have already managed to brand her as a "reformer" and a "maverick". We need to be consistent in calling her what she is "fanatical". As in: McCain's choice of the fanatical Palin as his running mate. That's what she is. Each of the scandals surrounding her center on her fanaticism. Whether it is going after her brother-in-law, money grubbing earmarks for her town, building a gym they didn't need and leaving them mired in debt, her relationship to the fanatical AIP, her membership and attendance at a church that invites an anti-Semitic to talk, and her attempt to ban books at the local library. She is a fanatic.
There are two groups in the Repub corner that will turn or at least soften her if they understand the issues. Fiscal conservatives when they learn about her policies as mayor, and the conservatives who think that a woman should stay at home and take care of her family especially a family that is clearly going through a crisis. Targeted ads by 527's could help swing these voters or at least diminish their enthusiasm for a candidate that doesn't believe in the same ideals that they do.
Finally, it should be hammered home that Palin is another Bush. She and Bush share many of the same beliefs and flaws. She's an evangelical that has no interest in foreign policy - sound familiar. She surrounds herself with cronies who agree with her - sound familiar. She doesn't change her mind regardless of the evidence - sound familiar. She is willing to inflate her credentials in order to get elected to an office she is not capable of holding - Bush and his National Guard experience comes to mind. She lies or stonewalls to cover her tracks - sound familiar.
This is not a mavericky choice this is the selection of an unqualified fanatic to hold the second highest office in the nation.
This is NOT a ticket of change. The Bush/McCain/Palin ticket just represents more of the radical Bush irresponsible fanaticism that we have seen for the last eight years.
Maybe these aren't the perfect points, but what is imperative is that we settle on some talking points and start hammering them home. So far we seem to be all over the map, and if we aren't careful, they will have us on the defensive for attacking poor little Sarah.
