Was it just me, or is there a disturbing undertone to the presentation of McCain.
He is the one who suffered for you.
His suffering in the POW camp taught him compassion.
His suffering imbued him with wisdom.
His suffering makes him the one we want to follow.
Mike Huckabee (thanks hummingbird4015 for the correction) even told the story of the teacher who taught the children that the soldiers "earned the desks so you don't have to."
If it was any clearer, they'd just say that John McCain suffered in Vietnam for the sins of the 60's radicals, and has now come back to us and will lead us to glory.
He was annointed as a great young politician by Ronald Reagan.
He will throw the evil moneychangers out of congress.
He is reviled and scorned, but he will be proven to have been right all along.
He alone is pure in spirit.
etc. etc. etc.
I'm tempted to say that it is no coincidence that McCain will be speaking on the THIRD DAY of the convention, but that's probably taking it too far.
Seriously, folks. They criticize Obama for running on celebrity and empty rhetoric with no specifics. We need to turn this back on them.
John McCain, we get that you are noble. We'll elect you first inspirational mascot anytime, but what is your vision to lead this country?
