I had these thoughts upon watching the media reaction to Bristol Palin's pregnancy, and Palin's "Troopergate". The fact is no one knows anything about Sarah Palin, or her proposed policies. No one knows what mixture of conservatism, progressivism, libertarianism, reform etc. would emerge if McCain were to win, and die in office. Her track record is geographically remote, and "Sarah Palin" has never been a household word anywhere.
The perception is that she is a conservative. No one really knows.
What is known is that she herself married when she got pregnant, and her daughter is doing likewise. She went to term with a special needs child. At least she is not some hypocrite like, arguably, Newt Gingrich who spews family values, and divorces. The mixture of holding beliefs and actually acting on them scares some.
Anyone ever notice how some are not comfortable with blacks (i.e. Clarence Thomas) or women (i.e. Palin) not being anything other than extreme, counterproductive left-wingers. They seem to prefer the "burn, baby, burn" and radical lesbian feminazis to even reasonsed, pragmatic, educated conservatism.
I am a leftist who believes that women and blacks should have the freedom not to be leftists themselves. If people believe that women should smash through the glass ceiling, they should at least approach the Palin Presidency with an open mind.
