...and this is why.
"We have a huge unemployment problem with black youth in our cities," Davis told the Tonawanda News recently. "Put them on buses, take them out there [to the farms] and pay them a decent wage; they will work."
Eh?
Round up the unemployed black kids and send them out to the farms?
Does this sound like a Democratic idea to you? Rather than proposing any kind of community programs to revitalize inner cities...Davis wants to round up the black kids and bus them out to the country?
Asked about Davis’ idea to bus inner-city youths out to farm country, Henry L. Taylor, head of the Center for Urban Studies at the University at Buffalo, said: "I’m not so much offended by it as I recognize it as a very dangerous kind of suggestion that seeks to turn back the clock by creating a neo-peonage system."
This is the man who may be our Democratic nominee, if we fail to help carry Orange to Blue candidate Jon Powers across the primary finish line.
Let's check out some of Davis' other "Democratic" positions:
On top of that, Davis — the millionaire industrialist who went to the Supreme Court to win the unimpeded right to spend up to $3 million of his own money on his campaign— is the only Democrat in the race who favors extending President Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy.
He’s the only Democrat who says he’s not sure whether Barack Obama or John McCain has a better idea on how to fix the health care system.
And he’s the only one who doubts that human beings caused global warming, and who thinks we shouldn’t do anything about it.
Three strikes and you're out, Jack.
This is a guy who believes that health care is a "side issue", pr the article, and that the same tariffs which led to the 1929 stock market crash should be used for government revenue in lieu of an income tax, falsely claiming that the government functioned solely on tariff income through 1930.
There is a very real chance that Jack Davis can win the primary. He would be a disgrace to the Democratic party if he is allowed to carry the party standard for one more term.
There is a genuine progressive in the race, and that Democrat is Jon Powers. Powers can defeat Davis, and he can win election to Congress, but he needs your help.
The primary is on Tuesday, so there is no time to waste.
Act now.
