Some have been ridiculing the McCain campaign's decision to whisk Sarah Palin away to Alaska in an attempt to avoid the press. But I intend to argue here that not only is that a good decision, but it is a wise decision. One that is bolstered by historical precedent....
A bit of background if you will. The Republicans hate Hollywood. They hate the decadence, they hate the celebrity, but most of all they hate the liberals. But none of that hatred prevents them from identifying, nay, owning the stories and presenting them as validation for their decisions.
300 showed America that yes, it's alright to hate 12 foot Persians that come into your country looking to subjugate your women. It's not only alright but it's OK. So don your cape Americans and throw a spear at that exotic fucker.
Then The Dark Knight taught us that sometimes to catch the bad guy you have to work outside the law. So wiretapping your phone, eradicating habeas corpus, torturing, spying, and fabricating evidence is OK so long as there's a mad man running around with clown makeup (Katherine Harris?) fucking up your city. Then we must jump into our metaphorical Batmobile/cycle and take it to the enemy.
So with Palin being sequestered in Alaska and trained in the art of foreign policy by none other than Joe Lieberman, I thought I'd help our conservative friends out and find them a movie that supports their decision to keep this VP shrouded in a cone of silence and secrecy.
Before they wind her up and send her out there she must have control, poise, and knowledge.
What I'm saying is Sarah Palin needs to learn how to wield the force and she must learn quickly. The liberals and Obama have nearly completed the Death Star.
With Joe playing the part of Yoda and Sarah filling out the role of young Skywalker, the conservatives are set to deliver another Blockbuster. Sarah must 'unlearn what she's learned'. Unlearn the Troopergate scandal. Unlearn the earmarks. Unlearn the Bridge to Nowhere. Unlearn the AIP involvement.
And let Joeda teach you the difference between Sunni and Shia. Let him school you in the ways of Al-Qaida. Let him influence your view on Russia because even though Russia and Alaska are close, politically they're light-years apart...
And in a galaxy far, far away, someone's laughing at our cosmic misfortune.
