This is something you just need to watch to believe.
Apparently there's a show called Powerhouse. The purpose of the show, I gather, is to provide the viewer an upscale version of Cribs. We are treated to an up-close and personal look at some Washington heavy hitters and their homes. I've never seen this show so maybe it's a joke that I'm just not getting.
In any case in this particular episode, we get a glimpse inside the palatial estate of Edwina Rogers. She lovingly refers to it as the "Republican Shangri-la". Today though Edwina has a special task that she needs help with. See there's a little tradition that Edwina has. A time-honored tradition that Edwina believes displays her gracious nature.
Most of us give gifts. Sometimes it's a present. Sometimes it's a card. Sometimes the card even has money in it. Well you slacker-ass Grinches, Edwina wants to show you how to really give a gift:
But worry not! She only does this for small gifts. And she always leaves Washington's face facing outwards. How patriotic!
Maybe it's just me but I find this offensive. It's her money and she can do what she wants with it but putting that particular tradition out there on display is incredibly crass and callous. It really shows, in perfect detail, the disconnect among Republican operatives and the real Americans they claim to represent on their shit network Fox News.
There are people losing their homes. There are vets living in the streets. There are millions of people (like me) who don't have health insurance because they can't afford it. And here's Edwina wrapping her gifts in dollar bills.
Now that's priceless.
