Rev. Jeremiah Wright set the tone for those on a witch hunt against Barack Obama to prove just how un-American he was. Videos of his sermons almost short-circuited cyberspace and received way to much air time than they deserved on network television.
Now it's Gov. Palin's turn. Apparently the Pentecostal...now labeled simply Christian has some "preacher/church" issues to answer to herself; everything from utterances that only God understands, a God-authorized war in Iraq to terrorist attacks against Israel being God's punishment against Jews.

Now one of the major differences in Palin vs. Obama with regard to them both having been members of church's whose pastors made very controversial statements or invited guest speakers whose views were outright wrong...Ms. Palin made some of these statements herself.
The church/pastor issues don't just stop with Palin and Obama.
Has anyone asked Sen. McCain to address his religious flip-flopping? In 2000, Senator McCain called the late Jerry Falwell "an agent of intolerance," a statement which may have cost him the decisive South Carolina primary. But as he ramped up his next presidential run in 2006, he embraced Falwell and gave the commencement address at his Liberty University.
When Tim Russert asked if he still considered him an agent of intolerance, he said, "no, I don't".
Back in June of 2007 McCain called himself an Episcopalian. The very next month as the evangelical-rich South Carolina primary neared he made this statement about religion "It plays a role in my life. By the way, I'm not Episcopalian. I'm Baptist." However, Senator McCain has never been baptized. And yet, he's the POSTERBOY for the Conservative right. Well, fire, hell and brimstone....unless he's dipped in the baptismal pool quick...his soul is at risk of eternal damnation!
This whole Presidential race has given many people a sour taste in their mouths for religion as a whole. Inclusiveness, tolerance and commitment to a higher call (promoting the good news) are supposed to be the mark of a true Christian. How is MY WAY OR NO WAY any different from the so called "Islamist extremism". One destroys the physical body (with suicide bombs), the other destroys the spiritual soul (with spiritual alienation).
