The First Rasmussen Poll gauging voters reactions to the War in Gaza has been conducted.
The headline should have been. Poll Junkies breathe a sigh of relief at new data to discuss/debate imo.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of Republicans back Israel’s decision to take military action against the Palestinians, but only half as many Democrats (31%) agree. A majority of Democrats (55%) say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first, a view shared by just 27% of Republicans.
Wow who would of guessed Republican's back Israel's War War War while rational Democrats favour Peace Peace Peace in da Middle East.
Personally find the last bit the most shocking "27% of Republicans say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first" Kinda shows how highly they rate diplomacy vs just blowing shit up and hoping the problem goes away.
For some more debating of this poll, roll on over to Salon because Glenn Greenwald got a great piece analysing the results.
There a lot of interesting pieces of info in the poll. Not just the Democrat/Republican views on the war but socially speaking.
Fifty-six percent (56%) of men support Israel’s military action, compared to 34% of women. Whites narrowly give the edge to military action, but African-Americans by three-to-one say diplomacy was the better way to go.
Meanwhile the reaction of the Treasonous Commander in Chief is a bed wetting tantrum of "More Wars More Wars" while the EU/Russia and China try to mediate a ceasefire.
Even CNN seems to be listening to the people more than Bush.
CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr believes that Israel's use of American weapons against civilians "is becoming very problematic." She notes, for example, that the 2000 pound bomb which killed a Hamas leader and members of his family on Thursday "is part of the billions of dollars that Israel has spent buying weapons from the United States."
In the International Diplomacy scene I believe that is known as a WAR CRIME :(
But now onto a related topic to this. The topic of course is the silence of the media... and I'm not talking about the mainstream media. In fact I am talking about the Daily Kos site.
70% of Democrats are against the Israeli actions in Gaza and yet something is missing on Daily Kos? Sure Obama's silence is deafening and been talked about to death here. And the diarists on Kos have been hammering away at the Gaza Crisis from all angles with a lot of passionate debate.
But where are the Front Pagers on the Gaza Crisis? Where is Kos weighing in on the most important issue of the week? While the diarists have been churning out Gaza posts at lightening pace the FP's have been AWOL in this important issue.
Not one Gaza front page piece.
