This will be short and to the point
As you may have heard, the US Senate and House yesterday voted nearly unanimously in support of Israels attacks on Gaza, which are responsible for killing of 800 Palestinians and destroying large amounts civilian infrastructure. Israel is using American planes, helicopters and bombs, payed for with American money. As a result, the Muslim world sees the US and Israel as being one and the same and equally responsible for that is happening.
In addition to giving blood and donating money, 10,000 Afghans have signed up in the past several days (1000 on Thursday alone) in order to fight against the United States.
"The acts of Israel against the innocent Muslims of Gaza are barbaric and inhumane and widely helped by the Americans," Assam said, adding that nearly 10,000 people across Afghanistan had so far volunteered to fight in Gaza.
...
While reaching Gaza from Afghanistan is all-but impossible, many of the volunteers said they would take revenge on U.S. troops inside Afghanistan instead.
"Infidels are killing Muslims everyday and the United States is saying Israel's offensive is just," said Mohammad Akram, a shopkeeper. "If we can't reach Gaza, we should seek revenge on Israel's allies in our own country like the Taliban do."

You will find this same story playing out time and time again across the Muslim world. By supporting Israels actions we are compromising our positions in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are compromising our allied governments in Jordan and Egypt, we are compromising the legitimacy of Mahmoud Abbas and we are compromising our position as a neutral peace broker. Most importantly, we are compromising the safety of our troops overseas.
The war on Gaza is a recruitment dream come true for Al Queda, Hamas and Hezbollah.
This comes at a time when the war in Afghanistan is going poorly.
General Petraeus also cautioned that security in Afghanistan would not improve if the only initiative was the deployment of more American troops; he said that Afghanistan required a diplomatic and economic commitment as well.
"There has been nothing easy about Afghanistan," General Petraeus said. Although "the natural tendency will be to look to the way progress was achieved in Iraq for possible answers," he added, it is clear that Afghanistan is different from Iraq.
New York Times: Major Push Is Needed to Save Afghanistan
So at a time when we need to be improving relations with Afghanistan, we have instead incited more violence and increased the animosity that Afghans have towards Americans. We have reinforced the Taliban propaganda that Americans are enemies of Islam. US congressmen referring to Muslims as "Trash" does not help either.
Virtually every country in the world has voiced opposition to Israels actions, and in almost all cases, this is done as a result of the immorality of what Israel is doing.
The United States however is unique in that is the only country that has a practical reason to denounce the fighting. Israels actions put American lives and American interests at risk. So why aren't our politicians not doing everything they can to distance us from the carnage? I honestly don't know.
