If reports are true, last night the yellow-bellied ass-wipe Democratic "moderate" turn-coats gave a tongue shine to the same boots that kicked America into our current hell-hole. Meanwhile, the Democratic leadership plays kissey face with the cretins that run the Republican Empire, who continue to shovel the country deeper into craptitude. Idiocracy now passes for conservatism in this country. Progressive liberalism is milquetoast.
“It is inexcusable and irresponsible for any of us to get bogged down in distraction, delay or politics as usual while millions of Americans are being put out of work,” said Mr. Obama, who has recently shown less patience for Republican resistance to the bill. (New York Times)
Posers are feeding us a simple story line to garnish their slop. Have we become so fat and lazy that we can't lift ourselves out of the mud long enough to see who provides the lipstick? I'm hoping progressives are willing to call out the SOBs.
(edited to add craptitude to the title)(updated)
I'll admit I don't know much about most of the bill, but I do know a thing or two about housing. And, I'm pissed because I've been told (although it hasn't been confirmed) that the bastards have cut $4.5 billion from two housing programs - programs that create jobs, are shovel-ready, will improve troubled neighborhoods and save us all money immediately and in the long run. If these reports are true, then we've been had once again by power-grubbing thugs who choose to appease right-wing extremists over fixing our country.
I'm told (again this is not confirmed but comes from a reliable source) that the Senate cut all $2.25 billion in funding from Neighborhood Stabilization Program. WTF? The NSP provides "emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities," according to the HUD website. It's a beautiful program. Money is provided to states and cities "to purchase foreclosed or abandoned homes and to rehabilitate, resell, or redevelop these homes in order to stabilize neighborhoods and stem the decline of house values of neighboring homes." How does this not meet the criteria?
Next, I'm told they've cut most or all of the $1.3B for assisted housing "energy retrofit." Excuse me? This will put people to work! Right there in the community! It will make housing more energy efficient! Why was it cut?
To be sure, I'm told some other key housing provisions remain, and that is good. But that doesn't excuse cutting programs that meet all the criteria. These are not wasteful spending. They are good programs. And if these were cut - what others have been eliminated by the turn-coat coalition?
Hopefully soon we'll be able to see WTF the turncoat coalition has peddled away in order to appease the same crowd of losers who knee-capped the economy in the first place. If there is more crap like this going on - and we all know it seems likely - then the progressive community will serve our country well by doing what we here have done best - and spread the word!
UPDATE: I'm told the reason NSP was cut was because ACORN was eligible. Who's playing politics now?
