You are all acting like two year olds who think it is unfair for naughty Johnny to get a treat, too!
We will protest the only solution to our economic woes. We are a self-righteous, emotionally immature people. And the banks are taking advantage of our inability to help people we judge as irresponsible.
Congress must Shore Up the Floor of our economy. The damaged floor is the glut of foreclosed, empty, rotting homes providing no tax revenues for their community and coloring the bank books red.
But we are too self-righteous. Too cowardly to stand up to the banks. Too stupid to do the right thing.
We won't put aside all our righteous indignation and immediately guarantee all at risk mortgages that keep people in their homes even though not doing so will destroy the world economy.
God forbid any unworthy people, in our opinion, get to live in a home they don't deserve.
The banks are winning this war of Economicide. Soon, all our wealth will be sucked out of our pockets.
The concept of fairness has to be put aside in order to protect those who have done no wrong.
As long as our disdain for those who were given homes inappropriately overrides our only solution, guarantee all at risk mortgages, there is no bottom to this crises, and we have no grounds for confidence.
It is insane to keep handing billions of our tax dollars to banks who have acted irresponsibly.
Why is that more pallitable than handing billions of dollars to fathers and mothers who acted irresponsibly?
Why do we care more for banks then we do for families.
I promise you, if Bernacke and Paulson had just used the TRILLIONS of dollars given to Wall Street to shore up bank investment losses caused by defaulting mortgages, we would have saved the world from this economic disaster. We didn't. Paulsen, a former Wall Street power player, shoveled our billions to his buddies on Wall Street. Well, except for his former arch competitor at Lehman Brothers. He let them tank.
But it is not too late.
Guarantee all at risk mortgages immediately. Put people back in empty, rotting homes. Help underwater homeowners. All emotions aside, this is the only logical solution to our economic death spiral.
Create a floor to this downward spiral immediately with measures that ruffle our self-righteous feathers.
Until a solid bottom is created, the downward spiral has no where else to go but down.
Our collective lack of consumer confidence is now a self-perpetuating, kinetic driver of complete economic collapse.
