Last night I felt a major disillusionment as I watched the puff piece, the infomercial, the propaganda offered by 60 Minutes when they profiled Bobby Jindal. Up until that moment I had thought that 60 MINUTES retained some journalistic credibility above politics.
60 MINUTES piece here: http://www.cbsnews.com/...
This presentation was NOT journalism by any standard used. I kept waiting for them to question him about the lie he told during his "rebuttal" to Obama or to offer any sort of voice over reference to it. But it just didn’t happen. I thought I was inured to Corporate media politicalization, but this shocked and dismayed me all over again.
No matter how one looks at it or what excuses might be offered, it was nothing more than a well wrought ad for Jindal. And damn, it was a good propaganda piece! I found myself almost smiling back at him and his family...and almost buying the WOW what a great person he is, how honest and sincere, fighting political graft single handedly. Even my favorite low info, old-style Republican voter perked right up during this ad and said: "maybe I’ll vote for him when he runs". Now....this is the same low info voter who thought Jindal’s response talk was a "joke". Looks like CBS did the Republican Party a big favor by running this advertisement for them. I wonder who at CBS made the decision to do this?
