So far, NOT ONE REPUBLICAN has left themselves the slightest wiggle room to maneuver when Obama turns things around with the economy and the infrastructure of the country. They all, to a man and woman, state that these economic plans by the Democratic Party will lead to failure.
And they all, to a man and woman, have voiced the opinion that they want Obama's plans to fail. Their jester-on-the-throne, Rush Limbaugh , even clarified the point (more on that below the fold).
Here's the prediction: when things turn around, and they will just like they did in the New Deal, the Republican Doubting Thomas Brigade will suddenly start claiming that their ideas were right after all and things just needed some time to turn around. They will, in effect, try to claim their loss as a mark in the Win column for themselves.
More below the fold.
I'll refine this prediction: they will NOT say it's Bush ideas that will come through. They will say 'conservative' ideas did it.
Those same conservative ideas that they praised Bush for having. You know... "entrepreneurs drive the economy", "businesses need less regulations to be more successful", that kind of thing that G.W.Bush said for his whole political life. The same wrong ideas that Mitt Romney now spouts. The same tired wrongness that has Mitt Romney as the winner in conservative straw polls. Those 'ideas', which are nothing more than the 1920s failed ideas with the words swapped around.
There's my prediction: even though Newt at CPAC talked about some mythical "Bush-Obama" economic policies (LOLwut?), and Bush was a four-letter word at CPAC, and no conservative dittohead on this (or any other) board has veered one degree from that message... as soon as things start turning around because of Obama's directions, they'll suddenly suffer from anmesia and start praising their conservative ideas that got us into this mess.
And here's why...
...they're not interested in doing what's best for the country. They just want to win. Even though their gameplan is a failed gameplan, and they keep on throwing the same Hail Mary for an interception, they still want to win by all means necessary by using the same failed single play in their playbook.
And if that means they'll suddenly and conveniently 'forget' that they were 100% negative about the economy in the first few months of 2009, with no hope of anything going right, they'll do it.
That's why I posted this diary entry. Because the conservatives and Republicans have been consistently wrong in the past, they're wrong about things now, and they will try and hide their wrongness by being wrong about what they say they believed in the future.
