Chris Dodd lied boldfaced to the TV cameras and then a day later, fell on his sword. He did indeed put 'language' into the bill about preserving bonuses that were contractually obligated. wtf?
Now we find out that 13 of the companies receiving STIM/TARP owe a total of $200Million in back taxes. what??
I am so pissed off that not a single line in these bills can be laid at the feet of the right. The offices of Pelosi, Gietner, and Emmanuel wrote it all. The repugs were shut out.
At least the White House knows how to get out in front of the AIG bonus flap.
But Chris Dodd, what are you doing. A little 'no comment' was in in line. If the Congress didn't have the time to read the bills (TARP 800+ pages, STIM 1100+ page) then can you really complain when the thing comes back to bite you?
I am so glad they called the new CEO of AIG to Congress so that all the representatives could hand feed the media the correct story: AIG bonuses are bad. Corporate Execs are bad.
Mr. Geitner, as the man in the middle, Mr. TARP, one of its authors, please dont say you didn't know anything about bonuses until last week.
Mr. President, as a supporter and canvasser for you last summer and autumn, ...you will have almost 3,000 days in office. Slow up and do the people's work right.
If we don't have time to do it right the first time, where will we get the time to do it over?
< commenters, this is how I feel...if you feel the need to flame, I suggest you find those cute and stimulating 'puutie and wooozies' diaries to relieve yourself. Hey, I love cats too! I just can't finish a whole one...>
