Sunday's Meet the Press, once again showed that only the super rich need apply to be "leaders" according to the super rich who tell us how to run the government.
If you didn't see Meet the Press you missed the discussion with Tom Brokaw and Erin Burnett (CNBC) about the delay in filling Treasury positions to help Treasury Secretary Geithner.
David Gregory led the discussion, as usual, framing the topic as another "What is going wrong with the Obama Administration" and why can't they fill positions? He did not comment on the fact that apparently the Obama Administration is, in fact, ahead of prior administrations in filling positions and it is the press that are frequently helping the carping R's attack good applicants.
Tom Brokaw said that it is difficult to ask people with a couple of homes to undergo the vetting process because all kinds of people ask you questions.

Erin Burnett chimed in her agreement. She is there, of course, to attempt to resurrect the CNBC image as a news channel instead of a promoter of Wall Street and the Republicans, after the trashing of CNBC and Cramer by Jon Stewart.
It was a perfect example of the inside the bubble mentality of the Main Streem Media.
These folks think that only fellow millionaire Wall Street types are able to handle these positions and since all of THEIR friends on Wall Street or who are smart and experienced have a couple of homes that is their definition of exceptional ability.
Maybe, just maybe, the Obama Administration will ask some non millionaire types who are NOT currently or recently what Maureen Dowd called the "shafters of the universe" formerly known as "Masters of the Universe" (Tom Wolfe) to serve in the Treasury and other positions.
The "One House Rule" should be used, in honor of Mr. Brokaw and Ms. Burnett, to select Obama Administration staffing of major positions.
see Dowd, below:
The shafters of the universe have been treated with such kid gloves that they remain obnoxiously oblivious. Vikram "Pandit the Bandit" at Citigroup, which received $50 billion in bailout money, is pulling a Thain, spending $10 million to renovate his Park Avenue offices, complete with a Sub-Zero refrigerator and premium millwork (whatever that is).

Are there no academics or other skilled people from the non profit world, government employees, retired government employees, former elected officals, etc., who understand how to live without a second home or ranch who can serve in these vacant positions?
Meet the Press is once again "Meet the Elite".
